About us

J D Wetherspoon is proud to open the doors of this stunning new hotel. Here at The Last Post, we are now the complete package: a 14-room hotel, bar, restaurant and a brand-new beer garden. All 14 rooms are en suite and boast tea- and coffee-making facilities, unlimited Wi-Fi and Freeview TV, and digital temperature control. With easy and convenient access via car, train or plane, this makes the hotel perfect for families, leisure or business.

The Last Post offers a bar, restaurant, beer garden and hotel. All of our 14 rooms come with an en suite as standard, as well as various facilities, such as flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi and a digital temperature control. The Last Post originally opened over 20 years ago, as a Wetherspoon pub. Since then, we have grown and established a name for ourselves in Southend-on-Sea: we are the place to be when it comes to evening drinks and live sports being shown. We are located just off the main High Street, taking just two minutes’ walk to reach Southend’s beautiful beach. Adventure Island, Sea Life Adventure and the pier are all within walking distance, making The Last Post the place to stay, when looking for a beach holiday. The High Street has a weekly market full of boutique jewellery stalls and street food.

Chill little place, been here 4/5 times now. Lots of little booths for that sense of privacy. They have their own hotel upstairs which looks great from what I saw. Very spacious.

We stayed here for a couple of nights, comfortable rooms but only on the first or upper floor, no lift. Nive bathroom but i dint like fixed showers. Great location just off the High St and near the pier. The pub area downstairs is huge but attractively laid out with plenty of tables, cosy alcoves, conservatory, lots of old photos and history of Southend as an easy place for Londoners to come on a day trip. Easy to order meals using their QR code providing you know your table number. Some of the food was a bit so so, but acceptable, good prices and I had really delicious eggs benedict for breakfast. Do it yourself coffee, etc, with free refill. Plenty of variety and food served up pretty quickly considering how many people there were even in the evening. I loved the fact that bedrooms and corridors had displays of children's art sponsored by Wetherspoons, great project.

A great highsteet budget place to meet for drinks and conversation. The atmosphere was OK and you xsn just sit and talk without loud music.

That's a review of hotel (as well as a pub). I'm very picky customer, due to my autism's. But I like that place sooooooo much that I come back second time, this time for summer holiday on sea for 5 nights. Nothing changed, amazing place, clean, comfortable. Welcoming, kind and polite people's. I just can't imagine to stay in any other place if I visit Southend-on-Sea! Amazing place with amazing price. Have adorable bear garden, that is so cool spot for having you breakfast.
