Had an amazing experience in this quiet wigan pub. I had a lovely conversation with Anna who was extremely helpful and had good banter. Definitely recommend if you pass through Wigan.
Excellent real ales in a fabulous Victorian pub full of character and characters
Good boozer with plenty of character. Multiple casks and keg beers (no craft beer). Barman was chatty and service was prompt. Beer was on form (cask). On the poor side was the food, steak and ale pie was good but the chips were virtually cold and ranged from thin to nanometer thin, they looked like the dregs of a potato chipping machine for £10.95 I was very disappointed.
I mean, my first impression of this pub was kinda hampered by a woman bawling her eyes out, and making a scene just as soon as I had walked into the establishment (alcohol does tend to have that effect on people) — either way, the service was okay, and the decor was fairly rustic for the lack of a better word (which I liked) — either way (repetition), I was somewhat disturbed being in that establishment after that aforementioned introduction so maybe I’ll be back, and have a higher view of the place — or maybe I won’t, and won’t lol
An Architectural gem, tastefully decorated, 3 ales on the bar, the once proud Raven pub sign is rather worn, a shame, it would make the pub look so much more inviting from the outside with a refresh.
