The author George Orwell wrote an article in the London Evening Standard about his favourite fictional pub which he called The Moon Under Water. When Wetherspoon’s chairman, Tim Martin, had around seven pubs in London, a journalist visited one of them and told Tim he liked the pub and that it was similar to the pub envisaged by George Orwell – in essence, a pub with a good atmosphere, good real ales, food and no music. Tim decided that it was a great name for a pub; in the following years, several were given this name.
As far as a Wetherspoons goes, this is decent! £8.46 for fish & chips and a pint of San Miguel, can't complain
This was a fantastic pub for drinking, harboring a vintage style with the architecture throughout indoors! The bar is well-presented and had Christmas decorations; Blue Moon was on tap for once which is a rarity that had to be seized upon by me. Seating is well cushioned, cleanliness had been maintained and ease of access is given through the different doors!
Went on a coach trip to Lancaster. We was given a full breakfast bap and bottomless coffee. Was a great day out and the atmosphere on the coach was fab. Value for money. Not forgetting our host Ashley she was fun, friendly and very helpful. Thanks again from a family of 9 celebrating my mum's birthday x
I have been going to wetherspoons in greater Manchester, every one maybe most of them know about promotion offers, but not this one which is added in photos, student and plates low price etc. Then whenever you get food at most of them, you may have gone to weight watchers low potion chips.
Some interesting photos on the wall about the locality and key figures. One includes a photo of The Benjamin Satchwell Wetherspoons in Leamington Spa. I waited over 5 minutes to be served despite only one customer being served. The server said her key had froze. Not sure why another member of staff couldn't serve me. Eventually, I got my Shipyard, and it was okay. Hopefully, the other spoons in the town will do a better job when I get there.
