About us

Arriving at the inn, you are greeted with local hospitality and the warmth of an open fire. Here you can enjoy some of the best food and drink the region has to offer in one of our uniquely charming, individually furnished dining areas. The bar alcoves and fireside areas allow for relaxed, informal dining experiences, whilst our River Lounge restaurant boasts panoramic riverscape views. On Summer evenings these views can be enjoyed whilst eating or drinking on our newly landscaped al-fresco dining terrace.

Each of our fifteen luxury bedrooms, including the penthouse suite, is individually decorated and furnished with the same style and attention to detail as the rest of the inn. You can wake up to stunning views overlooking the river and enjoy an award-winning breakfast.

Although tucked away in the peaceful Lancashire countryside, we are only a few miles from many local places of interest. Close by are the towns of Blackpool, Cleveleys, Rossall and Garstang. The nearest train station, at Poulton-le-Fylde, is a short drive away and we are easily reached from the M6 and the M55. The historic city of Lancaster and its university are accessed by the main road North and the universities of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) and Myerscough are also nearby. We are ideally located for visiting Royal Lytham Golf Club, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, The Winter Gardens and The Grand Theatre.

Whether you are stopping by for a drink and a bar snack, dining with family and friends, having a celebration or staying with us for business or leisure we look forward to welcoming you to The Cartford Inn.

I booked a ground floor room. 31March/ 1st April 2024. Taking advantage of a Sunday evening offer, on their website. I pressed the direct link, again on their website, to that exact same offer. The offer was confirmed. A couple of days later, Jean, emailed to say that offer, on that day, couldn’t be accepted. It was Easter Sunday. I knew that. Cartford booking system clearly didn’t, as it allowed me to book. It allowed me to receive confirmation. Jean offered me an alternative booking , same Sunday evening offer, for 24/25 March. 2024. I reluctantly accepted. Making Jean aware I wasn’t amused. That my partner was keen to accept the offer. I was further advised the room I had booked, 31 March/April 1st, couldn’t be booked. It had to be another ground floor room. Again I verbalised, not using foul language, that I was less than amused. That my vibes were , at best , negative. What could I expect next? Our evening table reservation cancelled? No food, left on the menu, at the time of our restaurant booking? I heard no more , until this evening, Saturday 20th March. From Julie. Part owner, I understand. Saying they had cancelled my booking altogether, because they didn’t like my negative refrain. It was they who changed the booking. It was they who changed the room. Rich to expect me to accept either/both changes, without concern. Cartford terms/conditions make no mention that they can cancel a reservation, because their customers, me, have the temerity to express, robustly, not rudely, that their enforced changes, are beyond the pale. That their booking system is imperfect. I will be seeking legal redress. Whilst I’ve not paid anything for this booking, breach of contact comes into play, I feel.

First time here, and wow….. can’t wait to return. Everything was just amazing, such a stunning location and the whole place is decorated so beautifully. The welcome we received and the service throughout was exceptional. Myself and my husband both ordered Steak, and it was cooked to perfection. Your staff are a credit to you, thank you so much, we will defiantly be seeing you again very soon.

Really enjoyed a very different lunch experience! Sat in a heated greenhouse with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Good variety of high quality dishes at above average prices but worth it. Very attentive staff, happy to come out in the rain to serve us! Thanks for making my Mum's birthday extra special!!

My friend and I went yesterday (27/09/23) for lunch. We've not been there for a while. Nice atmosphere, cozy, super clean and beautifully decorated. We both chose the fish pie which was delicious, as was the accompanying watercress, pickled red onion and pea side salad. Rounded off with a lovely dessert and a cappuccino coffee, which was one of the best I've had dining out in a while. It turned out to be a lovely, unrushed meal, enabling us to catch up without worrying we were taking up the table for too long. I would imagine though the evening and weekend trade would be very busy, which might put the pressure on diners. The staff were courteous and efficient. The only issue and in no way should this be taken as a complaint - firstly the way the menu is priced is 'interesting' and, secondly, a service charge is automatically added to your bill. Paying by card I didn't notice this. I found out as I attempted to hand over a gratuity as I hadn't noticed this info on the card reader. The young gentleman and I chuckled over this as what I wanted to hand over, was greater than the applied service charge. We will visit again. It was also nice to discover our trip there bore no resemblance to those negative experience reviews I'd read before visiting.
