My local but also my favourite pub! Absolutely love it here, quiz nights/band nights/Sunday lunch - all amazing! Great and friendly staff!
The parking was convenient and pub interior was very nice and comfortable. Friendly welcome and initial service. Food wasn’t anything special but quite pricey for frozen offerings. After spending more than £100 on food and drinks we were told after 2.5 hours in, our already reserved table will be needed in the evening. I wasn’t going to challenge it but did wonder about the point of the reservation since seven of us had travelled up from Oxfordshire. Should we be told this sort of thing on arrival? During the ordering process of some drinks later on I could only catch the attention of a staff member who I was promptly informed “hadn’t started their shift yet” which I suppose is fair enough, but honestly, I wasn’t really enthused by the deadpan attitude. It seemed to us all as the afternoon wore on the staff gradually went from friendly to impatient despite it not being relatively busy. We left on time to free the table for others, although it still seemed pretty desolate on departure being a weekday afternoon.
The lovey lady now running this establishment has made such an impact. Its a pleasure to visit. we now pop in 3time a week. Food, drinks, charity events on Sunday and lots of good changes as in live much. Quiz night's with good atmosphere, Sport to whatch. What a huge difference this lady has made. Happy client's Diane& Nick.
Beautiful place. Beautiful food. Beautiful people. The service was lovely. Very helpful and polite. Although I didn't eat food I definitely had food envy. It all looked amazing. The facilities were beautiful and clean. They offer the hiring of rooms which was great to see. I will keep this place in mind for any special occasions. Ooo there is a one way drive /parking system so when arriving in the dark, go past the building and then turn right. Also there are lots of posh cars parked up so must be a nice place 😉...
Gastropub is big inside. It looks quaint and lovely. We thought we’d give it a try. Well…. Regretted it. First - customer service. Friendly enough but quite dopey but must commend them for working. Said no spring onions, don’t know if kitchen staff didn’t listen or the FOH staff not getting it across. A few times we wanted to order weren’t available. Should’ve just told us what’s available! 🤦♀️ Food - squid was good. Better than most! The Fresh Garden Salad is an abomination. Watermelon was soaked in vinegar and every bit is like a sip of vinegar!! It gave me a belly rumble all night. That has to do with the dressing as well. Awful. And again spring onions! I’m intolerant to it. But no one listened - spring onions galore! On the squid and salad 🤦♀️ Maybe this was due to the front of house staff being a bit dopey. Atmosphere - love them lights outside. Not many in last night. Quite quiet maybe it was because it was after 8? Would I go back? No. Would I recommend? Well… it’s not the worse. But no.
