About us

Transformed from an elegant 19th century warehouse, it is one of the most stylish hotels in Manchester city centre, consisting of 167 luxury rooms and 13 suites, just a stone's throw from King Street and St Ann's Square, not to mention two fairly famous football clubs… Our Smoak Bar and Grill is at the heart of the action, where you can order locally sourced and inspired dishes including oak-smoked steaks and lip-smacking fresh fish. Sit back and soak up the atmosphere with a glass of wine or ice cold beer in this leather-and-neon bistro that's inspired by the vintage Americana of the 1950s. Don't pass up an opportunity to have a cocktail in our signature Malbar, where the moody lighting and slick service makes for the perfect precursor to a night on the town. So whether its business, pleasure or sport that brings you to Manchester, you'll be drawn back time and again to the incredibly comfy beds and trendy atmosphere of our Manchester hotel, in the city where style really matters.

Beautiful hotel. We upgraded to a corner suite. Im glad we did. Lovely suite and very comfortable bed. Only down side is that we only stayed for one night. Excellent service and delicious breakfast. Will be staying again and highly recommended.

Booked as a birthday night away with my girlfriend. Hotel itself and the bar area was nice but didn't find staff overly friendly. Room was adequate but was a bit rough round the edges (scratched desk, dodgy tiling, marked walls)

Hotel in an identity crises. The ambience and decor in our room was bizarre. The bed is luxurious, cozy and mature, while the terrible art work and industrial style wallpaper feels totally inappropriate and cold. The television was about 15 years old, no smart tv, no mini bar in the room. The bath plug was broken and the heating didn’t work. Our room was supposed to be one of their premium suits. Food was good though!

Positives: Bed was very comfortable, really good central location for Manchester. Nice cocktails in the bar downstairs. Negatives: The room was tired and grotty, especially the bathroom as another has said - the shower knob also fell off then we tried to turn it on! Cleaning could be improved, hair all over the floor and we found half a rotting lemon slice in the cupboard -yuck! Breakfast was okay, but definitely not worth the cost - you're better off finding a cafe or ordering in.

Faultless. I stayed here one night with work and it's the best hotel I've stayed in. The rooms are beautiful. There's everything I needed. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever had (though I like a soft mattress, so others I was staying over with weren't keen). There were thin pillows, thick pillows, medium pillows to choose from, to get an optimum pillow height. Plenty of tea, coffee, hot choc and biscuits. Great set up for getting ready with a light up mirror and desk/dressing table with sockets for straighteners. Seems obvious, but so many places I stay dont even seem to consider the layout, with sockets nowhere near mirror etc. There was also an iron and ironing board. There were many lifts, so waiting for a lift was never an issue. Finally, the breakfast. Just fabulous. The service was amazing, the lady serving me was so happy, nothing was a bother. There wasn't loads of choice on the continental (couple of pastries and a couple of cereals, lots of fruit), but they did hot breakfast to order. Everything that came out looked beautiful, the Eggs Benedict in particular looked amazing (though I only had hash browns, they were very nice). I would always opt for this hotel chain in the future where work budget allows! And would treat myself to stays here with my partner in the future too. Highly recommend.
