Great location in the centre of the city. 3 stars is for the quality of the room and road noise. TIP: request a quiet room. Windows were paper thin so we could hear the busy road All night. Room 201 felt tired and the bathroom was dated. But at £58 for a room only it was hard to grumble. If we had realised the road noise was going to be such an issue we'd have requested to move rooms. The rest of the hotel is nice and felt modern. Old fashioned lift is a quaint touch.

We went as a large family group, for a 1940s themed murder mystery weekend. I have to say we had a fantastic weekend. The hotel staff were very welcoming and happy to help with anything you asked of them. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean and roomy. The hotel itself has loads of character!! The food was exceptional!!! Yum yum! Great selection at breakfast and very large potions, definitely wouldn’t go hungry with the full English👍 I would definitely recommend this hotel!

I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and attended the murder mystery event on the Friday evening. The event was fantastic, so well run and the food was exceptional. I was expecting a standard chicken dinner because of the ticket price, but the food was so delicious with a really tasty twist on every course. The staff were very attentive and super friendly. The rooms are full of character and we had the most gorgeous view of Lancaster castle. We also had breakfast on both days and again the food was incredibly tasty! Again, the staff were so friendly. The hotel is in the perfect location to explore Lancaster with everything you need to have a fun and relaxing weekend within walking distance. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Lovely staff even though all this heatwave. Very nice and try to please the guests as best they can... one even dashed out to buy more fans to help the guests. The app is little buggy (I think it's a system issue that needs a quick fix), so best to ring down from room. Room service was good and very quick once sorted out ordering over the phone. The room was really nice and extremely clean, but as there was no AC it was very warm to begin with. We opened the window and put the fan (each room has on on wardrobe) on next to it to circulate the air in and later we were able to get a bigger fan from staff to help get through the night (which was a real help to me as my condition gets aggregated by heat). Oh, and the old lift ... yes it takes a while, but I found it fun to use.

The Reception, bar & restaurant are lovely & welcoming, all decorated very nicely. Staff all very attentive and friendly & nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was great I think it was one of the refurbished ones - good selection of teas & coffee with sweets & biscuits in the room. The bathroom was really nice too. Things that could be improved: our room didn’t have any shower gel or toilet roll when we arrived which was a bit scary but this was rectified immediately. It was very hot during our stay and there was no form of air con whatsoever. The bedroom & bathroom doors needed either a good clean or a repaint as they were marked & dirty looking & the hook that should have been in the bathroom door was missing, looked like it had been ripped off. The ground floor lift-call needs repairing, you had to go to the 1st floor to call it then take it the rest of the way down! Very off putting when your mobility isn’t the greatest! It’s expensive to park near by as there’s no hotel car park, it’s a shame they can’t get a deal with the Dallas Road car park to have a fixed price for the duration of your stay. It’s a beautiful building and it’s well on the way to becoming a really lovely hotel but there are still a number of things that need attending to before hand. Despite that we had a very pleasant 3 night stay and would go back if ever in the area again.
