This pub is named after the local mill owner and MP, whose statue stands outside the building in the Market Place. Robert Peel’s son, of the same name, was twice prime minister, first in 1834 and again in 1841.

I remember when weatherspoons done a decent meal and a pint for a decent price. Not anymore. This is a local just one min away proving half a portion of chips and curry doesnt have to be over £6.
I was visiting with my daughter (5), niece (5), and nephew (11). Many of the customers were also there for lunch but there were a great deal of people drinking and chatting. I have no issue with this but the language that could be heard from various areas in the venue was sexual and explicit. Not something you would want younger children to hear. Whilst I appreciate this is a pub, during lunch on a Saturday I wouldn't expect this behaviour. Unlikely to return here for food but seems like a good place to go if you want to get 'on it' during the day or have alcohol dependency.
An exceptionally miserable Spoons. I was fooled by the beguiling exterior as it looked so gorgeous, especially as the sun was setting — but by the time I was in there, I was rather dejected, and also found it strange that you couldn’t take your drinks outside . That’s not a good sign, and not very comfortable for me at all. Didn’t help that the atmosphere was harrowing. I’d be turning in my grave if this pub was named in my memory… Incidentally, the toilets were abysmal, I felt disgusted using them
Still shows on some web sites as a "Spoonies" but is not one of their chain anymore. Still keeps some of the same principles, decent beer and food at sensible prices. Popped in for late breakfast, food was standard pub fare, did seem to take a while hence the 4 stars overall but certainly nothing to make me think I won't be going there again.
Great food , friendly helpful staff and a clean environment. Popped in for breakfast and wasn’t disappointed at all
