A disproportionally big venue without enough staff Not easy to get your order Arrived on a Sunday morning 11 am with hunger, tried to approach the till to make food order but did not get much attention and went for mobile ordering instead (bonus point for this) Table that needs cleaning As seen in the picture, the used mugs are piling up on the table. And the table itself is sticky and covered with breadcrumbs. Coffee machine lacks maintenance Long queue in front of the coffee machine because only 2 out of 4 are working. Even though it’s very simple issue with milk/coffee beans replenishment. Food taking ages to arrive Waited 48 mins before our food arrived, and my hash brown is missing from the breakfast meal. Toilets are not functioning One hand dryer is not working, one tap is just broken. Hygiene overall is looking ok. Conclusion: would not recommend if you are very hungry on a Sunday morning. Be prepared to leave with anger and disappointment.
Another WETHERSPOON'S with historical, detailed, very pretty interiors. Classically - huge selection in (cheap &) good cask beer 🍺 Didn't try the food as... Fire alarm get on and we have to escape xD
Staff are great, very helpful. Can get busy, sometimes hard to find a table. The building was previously owned by the Bank of Scotland and the interior is pretty amazing. Couldn't say that about the food though. Burger was small and dry with very little relish or sauce and a small gherkin. Wetherspoons used to be good value for money, but not anymore. Their prices have gone up and the quality gone down!
Another day, another Wetherspoons. This one for a Sunday Breakfast. It’s right next to George Square that is teaming with activity in preparation for the Women’s World Championships race that finishes nearby. Of the half dozen or so Spoons we’ve visited in the past couple of weeks this one is in the most architecturally impressive space. Good food and good service as usual. Good fruit bowl as were the decent hot drinks from the self-service machine. Plus again after the race was over.
As Whetherspoons go this was great, no complaints whatsoever. Obviously bearing in mind the usual expectation of it being tightly packed and busy. We visited as a group of four on an evening/dinner time. We all ordered separately via the app at the table (as it was very busy at the bar). The app was easy to use and the food came out roughly together and quicker than we expected. I tried the haggis pizza, on a recommendation from a (very) close by table and it was delicious. Everything was clean and staff were friendly despite them being run off their feet.
