Bought by St Austell Brewery in January 2019, this riverside, modernised, spacious, comfortable, multi-levelled, and historic pub is able to accommodate sizeable groups and can hold functions.
Built as a country residence in C18 it has a simple garden overlooking the river. Good food and real cider are served. Regular events include twice-monthly quiz, monthly live band, and acoustic Sunday. Three real ales come from St Austell or Bath Ales (usually Tribute, Lansdown and Gem) with one guest ale.
Nice place to go for a drink locally. However the skinny girl wearing black usually is really rude with customers that are not English and customers that are non English women particularly. She is the only reason we don’t want to visit this pub or order more drinks. It would be good if this can be improved.
Great Sunday roast! Very tasty, complements to the chef. Friendly bar staff, a nice local pub. Highly recommend
Went to the Lamplighters for Sunday Roast. Good choice of mains, had the beef. I must say the food was served piping hot( plate was also hot which I like), the portions are very generous and the whole meal was very tasty. At a bargain price of £12.95 I would thoroughly recommend.
I mostly go there for a beer, (not cheap), and to chill out looking at the view across the Avon towards Pill. Great place for that. Always has been. Nice walk along cycle path and banks of the Avon from under the M5 bridge to the pub.
Came here for evening meal with my daughter. Booked in advance for early evening and found we needed to since most tables were taken by people ha I guess an evening drink. The menu is rather limited and basic with a couple of ‘specials’ which were nothing special. There was a good choice of beers and they tasted good. The quality of the food was good and the service very good apart from the fact that you couldn’t have a tab and had to pay for everything each time you ordered, which is frustrating. We had a calamari starter with a chicken burger and sausage and mash with a wine and 2 beers which came to £45 which is pretty good value for money
