This town centre pub has two bars and a large function room, with a good mix of customers - locals, students and tourists - in this university town, which is home to the oldest established rugby club in Wales. Good food is served all day, with dishes such as rabbit stew on the menu. Although the pub is tied to Marston's, the guest ale changes frequently and may come from Ringwood, Jennings and others.
A lovely cosy bar. Owner was lovely. We were with our car club and we were looking for cake and coffee/ tea for our drink stop. He provided lovely cakes and drinks as a good package price. So accommodating.

We enjoyed a good few hours in the company of Lee the landlord and Bolton the barman. The Doombar was excellent. It was a quiet night but there was still a good atmosphere.
Just a Wonderful Pub! Absolutely does it's best for all of it's customers. Has a very nice outside beer garden.
Lovely staff/owners but sadly thats as far as it went.The room was never cleaned or replenished i.e. no clean towels or linen, tea and coffee or toilet rolls not replenished. No information given about Wi-Fi or how to check out, poorly stocked bar/restaurant i.e. very low food options available if any, no ice or lime available in the bar on two occasions. The staff were very conficting in what they knew i.e. either didn't know or gave different accounts. As for breakfast we were asked if we wanted it, when we ordered for 2 days we were then informed we had to go to a cafe across the road which was lovely. Room was very basic for a deluxe, no chair, no hair dryer. Does not state that the bar is open until 1am during the week. Could here customers below very clearly with a varied choice of the English language. Do Not know how this property obtained 4 stars. Felt more like a club 18-30 resort. Car park was like a building site with screw and nails on the floor which we removed.
