About us

The King's Head dates back to 1750 when it was known as the White Horse. The pub was auctioned in 1801, when under the ownership of William Reynolds. Travellers journeying between Rochford and Brentwood often stopped at the King's Head for refreshment prior to passing through the toll-gate which stood next to the inn.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

I came to the Kings Head with a friend for a catch up because I have heard lovely things about the pub, and it did not disappoint! Promptly seen to our table, couple of things were not available on the menu but we were informed of this straight away to save disappointment, which is always appreciated. The service from both Amy and Sammy (not sure on spelling) was fantastic, really attentive, friendly, lovely ladies! I believe the food was brought over by someone else who’s name I am not sure of but she was also a nice friendly face. Compliments to the chefs out the back because our meals were fantastic, both had a chicken burger with a couple of extra sides to share. And a dessert to share to finish off. Couldn’t fault a single thing in there! I didn’t see what the loos were like but my friend said they were clean and smelt incredible. Thank you to all the staff, we had a lovely evening and we will be back again most definitely.

Another lovely lunch at the kings head with new friends who hadn't been before. We all ordered the same as I recommended the calamari, followed by pork belly and then white chocolate pavlova to follow. Eliza was an attentive waitress who was helpful and polite. Love this place for the atmosphere, food, and great staff and regularly go for lunch. Never had a bad meal! Just to add we were there again this evening (23/1/24) with lovely Amie serving us who made the best soda and lime I've ever had! (With real lime slices) the food was excellent as always - compliments to the chef - I had fish cakes and my friend had venison pie and both were piping hot and gorgeous! Love this place as friendly professional staff and excellent food!

We had a surprise birthday for a friend in the private dining room and it couldn’t have been lovelier! Leah was so helpful setting up the room and Vicky really looked after us all evening. Great food, lovely service, highly recomend. 😍 thank you for making our evening special.

The variety was good and the food we chose was great. Slightly disappointed that the pie did not gave short-crust pastry on the top, but it was still tasty. Both steaks were delicious and the desserts were tasty. Id recommend it .
