Me and my mate come to the kings arms every lunch break during college and love the food! The staff are kind, welcoming and are easy to chat with while waiting for your meals. We never miss a day going to the kings arms.

Amazing atmosphere when I came in for a quick meal with family, staff also amazing they where welcoming and offered I think everything the could to help our staff comfortable and enjoyable. The food was delicious as I order the chicken n mix which I would recommended to anyone with a appetite which came as a good time as well as I had the chance to get me drink and have a ciggy before food came

Service was great, we have nothing negative to say about the staff there, they were all really great, helpful and friendly (well the two girls were). We have previously had family meal and we honestly couldn’t fault any one bit, I’d go as far as say they were really really good - resulting in our return today, in all fairness I didn’t write a review about what they done well in the past. However, today was horrific…… not one meal came out without an issue, 7 adults meals and 6 children’s meals all having a few rounds of soft drinks, so spending around £160! Firstly the roast dinners were inedible - the beef was mostly fat and rubber-like the mash was like a hard mound of overcooked crusty potatoes and the gravy was a thick jelly-like porridge all pretty cold and went home to the dog. The stake and chips well done (as requested) came on a bed of onions…… well a mountain of onions despite requesting no onions. The burger was hot, probably because it had been cremated, it was thrown together and once again the onions were inedible and appeared to have been cut with a blunt axe. The meals took close to an hour to come out and were staggered, taking this time it would have been nice to get at least one of the meals done to a standard anyone would expect. We’ll probably return and give it another go as our previous visits have been great and everyone has an off day although if the kitchen staff have changed from our previous visits, their new kitchen staff are shocking and need to drastically improve or don’t come in off the back of a heavy beak-end as they were belting out some good old banger (music not sausage)…… which is fine but not great when your sitting by the kitchen door. I feel bad leaving a negative review due to previous good visits but without criticism things don’t improve.

Popped in here to have a quick lunch. The sizzling steak was really tasty, and the meat was soft. The fish was nice but batter a little brown . Service was good.

Menu on the table list many a wonderful option, only to find when ordering over half are not available. Not one member of our party of three got their first choice. I was looking forward to the Steak Fondue Challenge. What I got was more of a disappointment than my first intervention It really is something when the best part of a meal is the small pot of sauce. Speaking of which, the beef dripping gravy was the colour and viscosity of melted Tesco Smart Price cheese slices, I didn’t touch it, it was wrong on every level. The picture in the menu, shows a tray brimming with chips, garlic ciabatta and 6 loaded potato skins, brimming with cheese, all precariously arranged around a 32 oz sliced rump steak. It looks so much food a funny glance could have it toppling off the tray without warning. What arrived was an abomination, the steak [was not 32oz by any stretch of the imagination,] it was a mini camembert and a few bits of wafer thin sliced pepper had been haphazardly thrown in a bowl, with what looked like not a care in the world for presentation. Clearly the cook doesn’t care what anybody thinks of his skills. Around this were the loaded potato skins, lukewarm and burnt, a portion of fries that would have been more fitting a childs meal and no garlic cabarita and finally the two pots of sauce. Our drinks arrived after the food, and only after we asked, with some mumbled excuse about a different order. One of my fellow diners complained about his chicken skewer being cold (just to clarify cold was fridge cold, not had gone cold.) The reply from, what was frankly staff who seemed to have just given up, was an apology “about that” after they had turned and started walking away. In all the staff and food are as bad as each other, one could even say compliment each other wonderfully. The complaints about the food are dealt with such, you are aggrieved by the staff and forget about the dreadful meal you had to pay up front for. Although there is no prize for completing any of the challenge meal, I have to wonder if they make them so bad you wouldn’t want to finish them so they can say most people fail? Truly the WammyBurger of pub food. I have attempted to email, but my email is blocked. I'm using my Gmail account, so it's either a blanket Gmail ban or specifically me.
