Lovely location food good but I didn't consider. Good value for money quite pricey for what we had
I had to have a cold shower on a Winter morning because my shower had no hot water. The manager didn’t believe me and said it must be my fault, rather than checking, or offering me a different room to shower in, nor apologising. He had a terrible attitude, he shouldn’t be in the hotel business. I will never recommend this place.
My parents and I visited as they have just moved to Wincanton and had admired the pub during their visits before moving here. It was an impromptu visit on a stunning day after we had been pumpkin picking. They were very busy and we had not booked. They managed to squeeze us in and we are SO grateful. I had soup and a warm chocolate desert and my parents both had the roast beef which is the best cut of meat we’d all seen served in a restaurant. The food came in record time. The desert was exquisite!! We had a wonderful experience from start to finish from the gent behind the bar and our server; a fabulous Italian gent. Sorry to not have names!! Anyway I had to leave a review because it was a first class experience. Thank you team!!
So we held a family celebration here this last weekend. 30 guests, some staying overnight, arriving at 12 pm with a meal arranged for 6pm. All the staff except the owner Tony were extremely helpfull and courteous. The soup provided,as arranged, for our lunch was tasty, but the portion was very mean. The main meal was of variable quality. Those who chose soup as a starter were given the same as at lunch time. The Vegan options were amended from the general menu , the starter was almost inedible and the main course was described as " like baby food". I cannot understand why such a supposedly top class restaurant could not produce a decent Vegan meal. The fish option was very unpleasant. Having said that the other meals were tasty and well cooked. We had a wonderful day with our friends and family however Tony made it very clear to me from the get go that we were not the kind of clients he wanted in his establishment. Funnily enough he was happy to take our money......l doubt l will ever return.
Love this place. Food is always good. Chicken Caesar is delicious. You can order the lunch size which is a generous portion or you can order the dinner size which is quite big. Service is great. Friendly staff. Dog friendly which I love. A really pretty building and great decorations. Love the cow pictures! Also the restrooms are so clean. A nice touch with the clothes to dry your hands. Would definitely recommend.
