The King’s Arms Hotel dates from the eighteenth century and was a busy staging post on the route south from Glasgow – offering extensive stabling and refreshment to travelers on their long journey to Ayr and beyond.
Fenwick, separated from the parish of Kilmarnock in 1642, was renowned for the fertility of its soil and the quality of its cheese and veal.
At the Venetian style windows on the left of the hotel, brides on their wedding day would cut their wedding cake and throw favors to the assembled crowd in the street below.

We love the King's Arms! We go along every month or so. The food is just delicious. So lucky to have this in Fenwick. The staff are great too. My wee one loves it, too. Every time we pass on our walks he begs to go in. He loves the fish and chips. Portions are huge. Great cocktails, too!
Had an early dinner at 4.30pm on a Sunday and was blown away by the quality of food. It was a set menu however the portion sizes and quality of the dishes were excellent.
Thought we would give this place a try, place was empty when we arrived with a few more tables taken when we left. I suspect there would be a good atmosphere when really busy. Hummus was really good, soup lovely flavour but only tepid in heat. Fish curry, again not overly warm and does it really need the olive oil drizzled over the top, no, not nice. Burger, every time I went to take a mouthful all I could smell was fat, like you would get at a hot food van. I have had much better. Oh and the red cabbage slaw that came with it was really bland. Our server was lovely and very attentive. Sorry won't be back.
The Kings Arms is a great local pub with a nice pint. The food is on another level, often specials are on and it's always been the best place to eat locally. Dog and kid friendly.
Fantastic meals, traditional and also some quite unusual combinations. Well worth going. Good value for money and very friendly and helpful staff
