About us

We’re willing to bet that you don’t know anybody who was born in a pub. Well, allow us to introduce you to our owner Joanne. She basically grew up pulling pints, having worked at her family’s inn just a couple of miles down the road. When Joanne took over The King’s Arms 34 years ago she, along with her sister, became the youngest ever female licensee of a UK pub (just ask for the newspaper clipping for proof). Her warm and friendly attitude has been a constant throughout. Ask her what she likes best about running pubs and she'll tell you it’s looking after people.

Today the Kings Arms is a reflection of Joanne’s warmth. We’ve kept things cosy, incorporating illustrated wallpapers and soft fabrics with mixed floral prints. We’ve also got a contemporary edge, as you’ll see from our bashed copper-top tables, on-trend lighting and colourful beer garden. We’ve taken the best bits of a Great British pub and made them feel modern.

We’ve freshened up our approach to pub food, too, infusing our menu with international flavours and making use of quality local produce. We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering a range of starters, sharing platters and mains. At the weekend, settle in for a Sunday roast.

Friendly: The Kings Arms is a place where everyone is welcome. We know our regulars by name and will always greet a customer with a friendly smile and a bit of chit chat. We are part of the community and treat office workers and residents with the same respect as students and local builders.

Warm: The Kings Arms is a cosy pub and restaurant – that’s why we’ve chosen soft fabrics and warm colours to decorate our space. As soon as a customer steps in the door, we want them to feel like they are a guest in our home. This is somewhere they can enjoy a cuppa in the morning, escape corporate offices for lunch or wile away a Sunday afternoon. We’ll always welcome you.

Fun-loving: With its refurbishment comes a new attitude for The Kings Arms. We want to be part of the community and have a laugh with them. We take any opportunity to share a joke, encourage another drink or let people know about our pub quiz. We’re cheeky with our signage, funny with our social media and always up for a laugh.

Accommodating: We do whatever we can for our customers at The Kings Arms. We’re open seven days a week, and offer a varied food and drink menu throughout the day, a space for private hire and even accommodation upstairs. We’re happy to ask the chef to arrange something special off the menu, ask customers for feedback and consider any proposition. You’re our guest.
