Period pub. Really historic. Friendly & professional staff. Yummy food. Decent sized car park. If you're 6' tall, duck as you walk through doorways! It was built 100s of years ago & people were shorter back then. Outside area for smokers. Arrive/depart by car or taxi would be my advice.
Lovely, period pub, big car park (need to register your xar registration at the bar to avoid a PCN), great staff & yummy food. This pub is old with lots of character. If you are 6 foot tall, remember to duck as you go through doorways. Suitable for a small family get together/meal or a bigger event. Big marquee attached for an event.
Popped in for a spur of the moment Sunday Roast.....we enjoyed our Roast, but a few notes to 👩🍳 make your own Yorkshire Puddings they are NOT difficult to make! My Aunt Bessie frozen one was cold, so obviously not defrosted/cooked properly and soggy :-( !!! The gravy was fab not runny and full of flavour 😋 Staff attentive and nice log fire. Thankfully they have a dog free section to eat in restaurant...as I do not like dogs in pubs!
This place has so much potential. We have been coming for years and have been happy. We came back first time since summer 2020 ( due to Covid closures, not by choice). We were surprised to see that the garden only had 4 tables taken. We came around 7ish and were told the back garden will be shutting soon - around 7:30pm due to lack of staff. This is the part that’s child friendly - with a climbing frame, toys, bouncy castle. Parents heaven. The main reason why we came here. The other 3 families left, we moved to the front garden. I think the pub needs a change before it’s too late - it was a lovely sunny Saturday evening in June & the place was empty - such a shame as it’s lovely! Bring in the music, BBQ, use social media ( Insta/FB), go wild, bring the crowds back in - it’s Euro 2020, it should be rammed! This was my previous review - I have edited it & updated it. This place is perfect for families & everyone else - still stand by it. It is near Cruise Hill, off Whitewebbs Enfield area. It’s indoors, outdoors, accessible for buggies & wheel chairs - perfect. There’s toilets, not sure about the changing area. Kids can play, parents can rest. They serve food, but we didn’t eat on this occasion. There’s plenty of parking. Do go in & visit, it would be a big shame to loose this place. Hopefully they can make some changes based on everyone’s feedback. Happy to come back & re-review.
Very lovely old historic pub with loads of character. Nice and cosy with the low ceilings and open fire, complete with the very well loved local dog (who clearly runs the place). Mum, dad and daughter staff were all very friendly and accommodating, and the food was also very good and wholesome. The pork and rabbit stew was delicious, as was the pickle and cheese sandwich, and our son enjoyed his chicken nuggets and chips. All were reasonably priced, as was the beer
