Recently visited for a wake contained in the smaller bar at back and restaurant area. Decent buffet and excellent pints of lager served in ice cold frosted glasses! Staffing was brilliant, friendly and polite. Pub inside could do with a bit of TLC and a toilet revamp. Small car park at front. Seafood stall opens of a weekend.
Attended funeral wake with family, the spread that was put on was very sparse considering it cost £300, must confess I expected more. The guineas was cold and served well, the bar staff are convivial and very friendly, the outside area is pleasant. Overall I'd give the pub 6/10. Atmosphere is created by the people in attendance
A nice little pub with ample outside seating, either on the side/back patio or in the garden. There are plenty of tables & a play area at the back of the garden. For those complaining about "families with children not being welcome" - I beg to differ. That is precisely why there is the play area installed in the garden. Mind you, it would be very nice if the parents who do bring their little darlings to the pub actually kept an eye on them instead of letting them run amok amongst the tables and through the pub whilst the grown ups are busy getting their fill of beer/wine/cider. Also, if you desire a more varied/extensive food menu, perhaps you should go to a restaurant 😉
This could be such a good pub… sadly it’s not family friendly. They have a lovely garden here with children’s play area, but it shuts at 4pm, the inside is not great. They do serve food but the hours are very limited. They also do allow children but display signs saying ‘children must be off the premises by 6pm’ so not great if you want to have a meal with the family. Half the pub is arranged as a restaurant which doesn’t seem to get much use. This is the only pub within walking distance for us and we have been here a few times. Unfortunately the service is generally not great. This weekend has been really awful! We visited with 2 other families and moved into the bar later in the afternoon as the weather became too cool for the outside. Unfortunately the children were shouted at by a lady behind the bar. We were then asked to leave by another lady who came to collect our glasses before we were finished. Such a shame because of the lovely garden but not very family friendly. I would avoid this place and go somewhere else or come without children. The pub is usually very quiet and they don’t seem to get much business. Think we are starting to see why!
The Green Man put on my mother's wake recently. They were fantastic from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble. Their finger buffet was generous and tasty. Prosecco for a toast easily sorted. The room was perfect for the 30+ guests. and their huge garden and play equipment was fantastic for the little ones. Completely recommend!
