An historic pub in the town centre which has had several names in recent years but is now The Stag.
Re-decorated externally and internally in a mid-grey. The beams have been stripped to original colours. May be entered from either the High Street or via Bank Street to the room at the rear which is used as a restaurant area. Three steps lead down to the toilets. Four casks on gravity dispense; three are usually available. Very reasonable prices. Two fires may be used in winter. A dress code is in place.
Played pool here last Monday, The chilly was on the hot 🔥 side 😮 I suffered the next day 🚻
I haven't eaten here but a great place to pop in for a pint or whatever tickles your fancy. A lot of punters enjoy sitting outside people watching. I thought £4 for a pint was very reasonable. A nice change from the obvious chain pubs. Has been recently spruced up with a lick of paint on the front and back.
A very nice, dog friendly pub in a High Street location.
Lovely cosy place. Service with a smile and Sunday roast was delicious x
Amazing night, we scoffed down 3 courses each, the menu was great for both of us (one meat eater one vegan) excellent variety for both of us and the atmosphere was great! Now on first name terms with the staff... Tyler made us feel at right at home and we had such a laugh chatting with him throughout the night and the chef Nick came over to make sure our meals were perfect... Brilliant food! We will be back next week!
