About us

Marc and his family welcome you to The King Ethelbert Inn website. Here you can read a little about the local area, the pub and get a feel for what we have to offer during your visit.

Here at Reculver, every season brings its own pleasures whether it be enjoying the coastal cycle routes in Spring, relaxing on the large decked terrace enjoying shellfish from our on-site seafood stall whilst the little ones enjoy playing in the enclosed children's play area during the Summer, perhaps it's strolling through the Reculver Country Park enjoying the colours of Autumn or (by far our favourite) warming yourself next to one of our two log burners whilst sipping a hot mulled wine during winter.

We are seeped in History and Nature. The imposing Roman towers are situated on our doorstep, the bouncing bomb was tested within a stone throw from us and nature and wildlife are in abundance throughout the whole area. Whether you are here for the History, the walks/cycle routes, to enjoy the sunshine or to take your four-legged friends on a lovely country walk then what better way to end your visit than a visit to a family-owned traditional pub.

Being a Freehouse we serve a variety of locally brewed ales, lager selection, spirits, wines and beverages. Our restaurant serves traditional pub food which is locally sourced wherever possible.".

A nice place to visit right on the coast almost next to Reculver historic site. Sit outside in good weather or inside in poor weather. Good food drink and service. Well worth a visit.

We stopped here for quite lunch on our way. The Sunday roast was delicious! Pork 10/10, soft, juicy and very tasty. Lots of vegetables on separate plate. Highly recommended if you looking for pub in local place far away for noise city

It's a cool location next to the Roman/Norman/Victorian church/ruin/towers at Reculver. The Romans first built a fort on the coast which lasted for 900 years, then the Norman's rebuilt it around 1066, then the Victorians rebuilt that around 1860. The pub is nice with a beer garden and outer shelter. It is on the coast so cyclists and walkers coming from Margate stop for a rest there.
