Festive menu at lunchtime with a group of friends. The pub was busy and we had pre ordered, we were served very quickly our drinks order taken and just the right amount of time between us arriving and having our starters brought out. Everything was hot and more than adequate portion size. It was a delightful lunch, served by pleasant staff.

My wife and friends went the other evening. Was provided the menus and then no one came back to take to the order. They were told that they only had 2 people working. When wanting more drinks, and the waitress took the order, it took 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. The waitress did have time to go outside for a fag though. She got her priorities right there. Unfortunately, they have already booked in advance and paid a deposit for another evening meal next week. Totally unacceptable, and all the other diners were placed in the same situation. Been there before and it was a good service. Bell you have let yourselves down badly, not just to my wife and friends but the other diners as well.

We popped into The Bell during an evening stroll. A plate of cheesy, meaty Nachos and a pint or two were a perfect antidote to a long week, short days and generally miserable weather. The service is great at the Bell. The food here looks fab too. The photo doesn't do justice to our humble Nachos because we took the photo after slurping a few down. Trust me when I say that they are quite awesome. As for atmosphere, the Bell is large and airy, but plenty of nooks and crannies make it feel more intimate. I would describe it as large, yet cozy. We'll be back.

Would have been 1 star, but food was good. Some staff and all service terrible. Restaurant has no etiquette from staff. A good locals pub but not a family friendly restaurant. No Warm welcome, was only greeted with “have you booked” this was all that was said, then was not shown table, waitress just pointed at table on the other side of restaurant, no kids menu given even though we had two children clearly with us, had to find staff to request kids menus, given one menu but 2 kids so had to share. (3 adults 2 kids) Got put at a 4 & 2 person table separate from each other, even though we pre-booked and tables of 6 were available for the duration of our 2 hour turn around. First drinks taken 35mins after sitting down and done with food order at the same time. Pub was dead and not busy so unsure why slow service, pictures attached. Not told about missing items on menu, made it hard work when ordering as had to keep changing while placing orders and even harder when trying to please young children. Drinks arrived in 3 parts, soft drinks took around 10mins (ordered with no ice…had ice, waiter just took the ICE out at bar and re-served), beers took 18mins and was chased twice, single hot drink arrived 65mins and chased several times after taking order. Was told the hot drink machine was busy. Starters, chicken with BBQ and sesame seed, no sesame seeds? Got feed up waiting for table service so I went to the bar, to find no bar staff… bar left unattended and keys next to the till for long periods of time, once bar staff showed told me to wait as they was cleaning tables outside, once another bar staff showed from finishing his smoke break then moaned about other staff not serving me and the keys by the till. Lady serving us, stood and spoke to friends at another table the whole time we were dining, that one table got the best customer service I have even seen, had their own personal waitress. Staff swearing with regular clients next to restaurant where kids were seated. Tables not cleared across the restaurant in several locations, new guest were told sorry for the tables not cleared, and cleared the table they was on but still left the messy ones for new guests to find. (Photos attached) Staff took smoke brakes at the same time and stood at front of house at main car park entrance, talking unprofessionally with locals, (I have photos that can be supplied to management on request) Starters not cleared until main meals come, and had to ask for it to be cleared, cleared one of our tables and then had to be asked a second time to clear the 2nd table. Asked for steak to be medium rare…over cooked, wife’s sirloin was the fastest bit of meat I have seen, I believe this was a rump cut…(photos attached) New guests turned away, at the same time we turned up, reason given as restaurant was fully booked (it was empty, photos attached) easy a two hour window to serve these clients and turn the tables around by the time we left. Lots of lost revenue for business owners. Staff had no charisma, no one come to ask if food was ok, not offered any more drinks after taking first order so just went to the bar for service each time, waitress never come back to our table after taking orders, over 2 hours from seated to finishing mains, decided not to stay for desert as kids had bedtime…it’s was a birthday meal, so got a cake in the way home from Tesco’s. Table not cleared after mains. Blue card discounts not taken on bank holidays? Told after trying to pay for the bill All in all, not good, won’t be rushing back.

It is a lovely place to visit. The atmosphere inside and outside is very nice. There is children play area outside. Food was delicious. The staff was helpful except one young lady that looked a bit lost and was forgetful and as if she did not know what she was doing. We got our food and drinks at the end.
