About us

Built in 1831, the Grove Ferry Inn takes its name from a hand-drawn ferry that crossed the river in front of the building. The waterside setting continues to provide inspiration, with the pub’s large garden and decked area overlooking the river, on which regular boat trips are held.

The garden is also ideal for families as it includes a children’s play area.

The stylish 19th century building offers a wide selection of meals, courtesy of chef Jason Rowlands and featuring locally sourced ingredients, as well as a range of Shepherd Neame beers, fine wines and stylish accommodation.

Entertainment at the Grove Ferry Inn includes live music every Friday night, ranging from jazz to acoustic music.

Its function room can be hired for weddings and parties, while conference facilities, such as whiteboards and a projector, means it is also ideal for meetings.

After very annoying unexpected eurotunnel strikes we unfortunately couldn't go on our trip abroad as planned and needed somewhere to stop for the night. The legend that is John the owner was an absolute angel in allowing us to stay very last minute. We had dinner and breakfast here and it was lovely. The pub was cosy and John was so nice and accommodating and did everything to make our unfortunate circumstances more bareable. Thank you so much John we really appreciate it. Highly recommended.

None of the staff bothered to tell us that because there was a new car parking system in place, we had to input our car registration number at the terminal at the bar. We later received a fine for £100 each! At Grove ferry inn, they never answer the phone and when I finally got to speak to the owner's wife - because I went there in person and at my own expense - she was incredibly unhelpful and even rude. Many loyal customers - like us - have been fined: Parking is meant to be free for clients. We were intending to celebrate our Pearl Wedding Anniversary at Grove Ferry inn but have now cancelled it.

We went there for a quick lunch a couple of weeks ago parked in the PUB car park. Had lunch, was there an hour and a half. 2 weeks later recieved a penalty notice for £100 for parking in a pub car park. Apparently there are signs that you have to register your number plate at the bar. I don’t go for lunch to read signs in pub car parks in pub bars or on pub walls. We were greeted by a man as soon as we walked in who asked a member of staff to serve our drinks and another member of staff to seat us. At no point did either of these 3 staff care to ask if we parked in the car park!! It was very quiet. 2-3 tables maximum. I’ve appealed stating exactly what we ate and drank and it’s been refused. Absolutely disgusting for a small run of the mill country pub to be ripping people off like this. I will not be a customer ever again and will encourage everyone I speak to to avoid this disgusting place.

Lovely place to visit for a decent meal and drink, for the dogs as well with the dog menu! Great food and atmosphere. The only downside is you do have to pay for parking which isn't clear so we got a ticket. But we'll remember for next time.

Didn't stay so can't comment on rooms, nice pub, lovely location , busy but that didn't slow the service so no complaints there , had dinner which was ok, the chips were quite greasy and thin fries but that's just me preferring a real chip, my only complaint was the toilets which if I had seen first I probably wouldn't have eaten there, it was obvious they hadn't been cleaned or checked throughout the day , I get staff are busy but these things are important, they were dirty, paper towels over spilling the bin and just needed someone to get in there and freshen them up. The location is perfect on the river and is busy with boats ect .
