About us

Come and enjoy our refurbished sun terrace (weather permitting!) or, for typical English summer days, warm yourself by our large open fire accompanied by some of Kent's award winning local real ales from breweries such as Hopdaemon, Old Dairy, Gadds, Whitstable Brewery, Wantsum and many more.

Added to this is an extensive rural garden and south facing front sun terrace we have a 2.5 acre paddock which is open for hire for private events!

See our Dine section for our excellent home cooked food menu boasting with traditional classics and specialities. Don't forget to ask for our ever-changing specials board that will be sure to tantalise your taste buds!

For walkers visit www.kent.gov.uk/explorekent and create yourself a walk or use a "ready made" one!

The pub has been extensively renovated, check out The Boar behind the bar. With quirky and fun interior decoration, classic bar food, friendly bar staff. Join the crowds and learn what all the fuss is about. We are a freehouse, so we can offer very competitive prices and a good selection of local ales and continental lagers. Our wine is chosen with care and our list varies from a French pinot noir to a refreshing Chilean sauvignon blanc.

The pub is family owned and run by a father and daughter partnership, Sam and Pete. With twenty years experience we hopefully know what we are doing! Our experienced staff at the bowl are all friendly and welcoming and will make your visit or stay a very pleasant and memorable one.

This is a proper country inn! Full of charm and character and fairly friendly regulars so come on and enjoy the tipple of your choice. Kids and dogs very welcome.

I decided to go back here as we were passing nearby. And I'm glad I did, as it was lovely. Very nice restaurant area with views of countryside. Great service with helpful waitress. And the food was spot on! As well as the Guinness. Not the easiest place to get to, but it's worth it I think.

Popped in for a couple of beers in the afternoon on new years eve with a couple of friends. The pub wasn’t busy but the handful of people in there were blocking the bar. We tried to navigate through to the bar but the bar staff didn’t seem to bothered about acknowledging our presence. Also instead of moving out the way so we could get a drink, the locals just stared at us. Very strange experience. We just left to find a more welcoming pub. Seems like a clicky locals only pub. Will never come back.

Popped in on way through from a day out on new years eve. Bar was not packed but I couldn't get to it because of 8-9 people with no spatial awareness having conversations with backs to the bar and blocking it effectively (bar staff didn't seem to be interested or notice our presence). Stood there 8-10 minutes whilst one of the locals an old guy with pure white hair stared at us as if he was weighing our souls. Left with out ether of us getting a drink. Randomly loads of people sitting in cars in the car park. 10/10 for the weirdest experience I've ever had in a pub.

Four of us went for lunch during a weekday. The pub was quiet. The service was friendly but professional. Two of us had the sausages and mash (from a pig named Garry - you had to be there to appreciate the joke) which was probably the nicest I've ever had. We finished off by having a drink beside the roaring fire in the bar. Great pub with friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Have been here for 1 night and stayed in the annex. Had a great stay. Dinner and breakfast were great. A specially the service was top and for a pub good food! The only thing I would change is the screen between hallway and restaurant. It looks a bit cheap to use trellis and sitting behind it you feel the draft when doors are opened.
