Voted the nation’s favourite family pub, our 18th century village local on the Norfolk coast serves real ales from our microbrewery Brancaster Brewery.
Home cooked wholesome food, great pub clasics including Jolly Smokehouse specials, local seafood, stone baked pizzas and ice cream from a garden beach hut (and not forgetting the largest selection of rum on the coast!)
Families, muddy or sandy boots and muddy paws welcome in our pub which is at the heart of village life in scenic North Norfolk, just across the road from Brancaster Staithe harbour and beach.
There is a great selection of real ales including ‘Brancaster Best’, ‘Oyster Catcher’, ‘Malthouse Bitter’, ‘Sharpie K12’ and ‘The Wreck’ from our very own 5 barrel Brancaster Brewery which produces small batches of top quality ale using the finest local Maris Otter barley grown at Wells-next-the-Sea. There's a concise cracking wine list, the biggest and best selection of rum on the coast and soft drinks including Norfolk Cordials, which are made locally with fresh natural ingredients.
Relax with a real ale or drink in front of a roaring fire in winter or enjoy warmer days in our fun enclosed garden, great for the kids with its giant children’s play area, treasure chest and ‘Jolly Roger boat’. There are lots of seating areas and deck chairs for the grown ups. Our Eat, Drink and be Jolly themed garden beach huts are an outside service area.

Nice place to stop off at on a walk. Ales were good, food was very nice (lunch time baguettes), seemingly unhappy bar staff were a small let down, leading to difficult interactions at the bar, affecting not just our party, I might add. Very interesting gents toilet. Worth a visit again though.
First time we had pizza they were the best pizzas I can remember ever having. We had the local mussels on the second visit they were amazing very large portion. Dogs very welcome. Service very friendly and helpful despite being very full very fast. Highly recommended.
It's near Brancaster beach, convenient spot for a proper lunch. Food was miss & hit for us, priced above average for a pub. Pizza is good but the spicy prawn pasta was a complete let down, for £16.50 it is tasteless, with chilli oil and prawns something like supermarket frozen prawns. Whitebait starter and kids meal were average. I like the option of indoor and outdoor seating. Playground for kids at least 4-5y and above, my toddler couldn't reach anything or get up to the slide which is a shame but otherwise good atmosphere for a drink outdoors.
Visited the VERY beautiful Brancaster Beach before making our way to The Jolly Sailor. We're on holiday but assume the staff are not! VERY laid back approach to service. But, the Cajun Chicken pizza was one of the best ever eaten & I'm a self-confessed non pizza lover! Go figure! Mum enjoyed their scampi and fries too. Beware of icecream scam! Order from menu, don't order from 'outside'! Daft!
Dog friendly. It's worth a visit here if you can get in!! We turned up on Tuesday evening around 5.30 pm and got the last table. We were able to get the dogs in. The food was delicious and the service was so quick!!! My husband and I had a share of two pizzas, garlic bread, and margherita pizza with ham. This was cooked in a proper pizza oven as we could see into the kitchen. Affordable pizza and can order to takeaway if you can't find a seat! Two of my family members had chicken salad. One family member had fish n chips, which they all enjoyed. My husband had pigs in blankets as a starter. I had a treacle for dessert, which was so yummy. They also had a whole rum menu, which was delicious. I had a try of the Norfolk Rum with pineapple juice, which was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
