About us

Edinburgh's Real Ale Pub

Leslie's Bar is a traditional pub that specialises in real ales and malt whiskies. We are found on Ratcliffe Terrace, close to the heart of Edinburgh - for our exact location see this map.

Leslie's Bar is one of the oldest pubs in Edinburgh, dating back to 1896 and remains almost unchanged today. Many of the Victorian features are still present including the original mahogany island bar and Bryson clock. The saloon bar has sections split with ornate wooden screens, creating a warm private atmosphere. For more information on the architecture and history see the history page.

We offer a fine selection of real ales and cask ales and are listed in the Campaign for Real Ale 'Good Beer Guide'. We won CAMRA Edinburgh pub of the Year in 2002.

We have a wide collection of fine malt whiskies including unique bottlings, single cask malts and popular brands. We are listed in the top 12 Whisky Bar's of Edinburgh on the Scotland Whisky website.

We regularly have special offers including malt of the month and ale of the month, this month we have:

Real Ale of the month:

Leslie's Ale £2.70

Malt Whisky of the month:

£2.55.

Friendly bar staff and friendly customers, close to my in-laws and good beer. Ideal! Can't comment on the food, we just came to the pub for a drink

Fantastic historic bar serving cask and keg beer. Selection was a bit small on a Friday night and a fair few beers were off.

Great historical old school pub dating from the 1890s with original fixtures and fittings. The serving area is in middle of the establishment effectively splitting the pub in middle - in the old days one half was the 'lounge' part used by the upper classes with the other half of the bar area frequented by the working class. Its now a listed pub and is not part of a chain. Has a great selection of cask ales and whiskey. The wine selection isn't bad either.

Pretty much my local, has possibly one of the cheapest pints (and a good one at that!) in Edinburgh with their own ale at £3.60 a pint. It's dog friendly and has a great old feel with separated sections of the bar and multiple areas for service and drink delivery. Bar staff have always been polite and friendly, the place is clean and comfortable. They don't turn up the music too loud, don't have the TV on sports etc so you can relax and chat properly. My only little gripes: - it can get pretty busy on a Friday PM, and some other (somewhat boistrous) customers took over my little table without asking if it was okay. But that's not really the pub's fault. - the toilets could use a bit of a spruce up, I like in a way that they are a bit old fashioned but they also aren't that nice - I'd like some food options, even just some sandwiches, but I get that it's not really a priority and is a small thing

Lovely local pub 👌. Friendly and cheerful staff, good selection of beers and ales 🍺. And the best pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord in Edinburgh.
