About us

Welcome to the Wheatsheaf Yarmouth, offering a unique, quirky and informal every-day bar and dining experience.

You won’t find anything run of the mill, predictable or copy-cat about us.

Try our bar and tap room, filled with interesting and quality brands, a variety of craft beer, accompanied by small plates should you feel a little peckish. We even have a beer tasting room where our ‘beer flights’ can be sampled. Alternatively enjoy something more substantial for lunch or dinner in the restaurant, with our hand-picked wine list.

If the outdoors is more your thing, take a pew in the enclosed harbour courtyard with its bespoke mural, wall-art and relaxed furniture.

A feast for the eyes awaits, surrounded by an eclectic mix of curios, objet d’art, antiquities, and humour. Check out the lights crafted from copper diving helmets, beer barrel tables with hand painted tops, spot the octopus tentacles, old gramophone, the old leather suitcases not to mention the pretty Italian style boat. #daretobedifferent

Cyclists may use our bike racks provided in the courtyard. Dogs welcome.

If you want to take a break in between rounds why not follow our Ale Trail and take a pleasant 40 min stroll or short cycle from the Wheatsheaf, down the cycle path following the River Yar to the Causeway in Freshwater and try our other quaint traditional country pub, The Red Lion Inn, with its traditional food, ales and cottage garden. For those visiting Yarmouth by boat, take your tender from Yarmouth harbour up the river and stroll 2 minutes to the Red Lion.

Whatever your reason for visiting, be it a mid-week lunch or dinner, date night, as part of a group or celebrating a special something, we won’t disappoint.

Came here for lunch off the cuff looking for food, it was absolutely excellent with both our mains being well portioned and delicious, with a decent variety of beers to choose from and friendly staff. What’s not to love

Quick visit to Yarmouth and tried the Wheatsheaf upon recommendation by lady next shop and it was worth it! Lovely place with warm welcoming staff and great food. Ordered soup of the day- tomato and pepper soup, crispy fried prawns, veggie pakoras and a small portions of fish and chips. All dishes were really good, the veggie pakoras looked bit overdone but tasted ok. Soup was very refreshing with the side of a fresh and warm focaccia . The sticky toffee pudding was the best, very soft pudding, not too sweet and a perfect toffee sauce! Overall, great quick stop near the ferry point. Definitely recommend!

Had sunday lunch and it was superb. The Belly Pork was melt in the mouth with crisp crackling. No small measures either. The staff were very friendly and the service was very quick. A must if you are in Yarmouth.

Quirkily decorated old town pub offering excellent, well-made but not too fancy food and a good selection of real ales and ciders. Dogs are welcome, including in the pretty walled garden. Service is good natured and friendly (and I'm not just saying that because a friend of mine works there!).

A great little pub in the heart of Yarmouth. They have made some attractive outdoor seating and on most days provide live music. The seating outside is more limited than indoors but they have made the most of what they have. Food was serviced quickly and efficiently even though they were busy. I had a bean tacos which were excellent and a little different to the average grub. A great place to go when the sun is shining and you want to relax with some good food and music.
