The Chequers Inn, Rookley, Isle of Wight
The Chequers Inn, which is owned and run by the Holmes family, is a traditional rural pub situated in the heart of the Isle of Wight within the beautiful countryside. Our pub is the perfect place to eat, sleep and drink on the Isle of Wight, and also perfect for just stopping by for a pint of traditional local ale.
We are proud to have our kitchen run by Head Chef, Steve Harris, whose aim is to provide fantastic fresh tasty food created with as much local produce as possible, with an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.
Here at The Chequers Inn, we have our sun lounge available for private hire, which includes its own private bar, making it the ideal setting for meetings, parties and conferences.
We offer a family orientated pub with a large children's play area and games room to keep them entertained for hours on end, so you can relax and enjoy your time here with us.
The Chequers Inn also consists of three luxury B&B rooms available for holidays or short trips away with stunning views of the local countryside. We are unfortunately unable to welcome dogs to stay within our B&B rooms, however they are very welcome within the rest of the pub.
We are also pleased to be able to offer our ever so popular Sunday carvery, which is served throughout the day, offering several succulent meats to try alongside a range of seasonal.

Had a great time at The Chequers when visiting Sunday just gone. I was surprised I could simply book by messaging someone on Facebook, this makes it so easy and preferable for someone who does not like talking on the phone. Thanks Julie x
Food was amazing. Staff were friendly and very polite. The beef and pepper salad was cooked perfectly, lamb shank was melt in the mouth and the white chocolate mouse was a surprise but was amazing ๐ at first I thought it was a little costly, but after eating the food ๐ worth every penny ๐
Food was excellent and a vast choice. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Very slight whinge was we ordered the Focaccia bread for a party of 4 and they send out a standard portion of 3 slices of bread. A snicky way of getting the customer to buy another standard portion. Would recommend and will be definately be back
Came here for a carvery on the recommendation of a friend and found it underwhelming at best. However having subsequently eaten from the main menu, found the food on that to be a much higher standard. Otherwise, it's a very pleasant, welcoming and friendly pub with plenty of character nestled in the beautiful Isle of Wight countryside.
Great food. Allows dogs. High quality local produce cooked well. Large beer garden and childrenโs play area. Large car park. Busy on a Sunday and was still served quickly & well. Very enjoyable meal.
