A piece of local history, The Castle Inn was originally known as the Castle Hotel. It was opened by Thomas Vanner, the operator of the Ryde to Newport stagecoach, in 1850.
The rooms were well used and in need of decoration, and cleaning of the walls and paintwork. The room was small and the bathroom even smaller. The hotel had a lift. But there were stairs every where. The price was on the upper end. The hotel gave the impression it was going to be upmarket, the tired decor let it down
Genuinely some of the nicest staff I’ve ever had the pleasure to talk to. Especially when we visited, Charlotte on the front desk was so lovely and accommodating despite a small complication with our booking. Amazing food and drinks. Such a homely vibe to the room and restaurant. Would absolutely recommend anyone to stay here.
Was only there to have a meal so not able to rate or comment on the rooms. But the service and hospitality I could not fault. They were kind, warm and the generosity of giving up a chair and table was more than appreciated and gratefully received
We had lunch here and it was lovely. We took our dog in and ordered some sausages as extras for her. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly and brought us a bowl of water for our dog. Beautiful building with great views over the Solent. Highly recommended.
I managed to get a free stay at Ryde Castle when I switched energy companies and my friend and I stayed here for the night. The hotel was beautiful, the staff were kind and helpful and our room was lovely. It’s 5 minutes walk from anywhere you need to go. The breakfast selections are plentiful, we had cooked breakfast which costs £12 but you can have as much as you want. Absolutely delicious too. I doubt I could afford to stay here as it is a really decent hotel so was very happy to get such an amazing freebie.
