We have the most beautiful, tranquil location of any pub in Oxford. Sit by the river, under huge trees or in the sun. Children, dogs (and even adults!) can explore the huge gardens, and there is so much space it rarely feels busy, even when it is!
Gorgeous unspoiled characterful riverside pub, amazing live music with international artists, local bands and a showstopping live jazz performance with free admission every sunday between 5pm and 8pm: playing a mixture of swing, Gypsy Jazz and great songs from the golden era. Numerous music festivals celebrating every genre of music throughout the year.
We serve proper food, have lots of local beers and ales on tap, have a huge garden on the river with unrivalled views and a meadowside garden (in all 3 acres of grounds). Open fires in winter. Worth the walk from Iffley or Oxford city centre!.
Nice place! Spent NYE 2023-2024 and it was amazing! The food was delicious and the music was great! I will totally go back new year’s celebration! It was a family friendly event! Book in advance. Can’t wait for next year’s celebration.
Went on a Sunday evening. Lovely pub and live music, the Djangos smokehouse roast dinner with short rib was lovely. Tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by greens & gravy which tied everything together. I highly recommend to anyone seeking a top-notch meal at a beautiful location.
I'm leaving two stars just because of the great location and atmosphere. Service was INCREDIBLY slow. Just unbelievable. I ordered a smoked salmon (which was listed under mains, but was simply a salad) + cheesy chips. I've waited for an hour and went to complain. The guy who was responsible for the orders said something about the waiter that didn't make any sense. I asked him how long roughly it will take and he replied "10 minutes". Waited for another 25. So for chips and a salad I had waited an HOUR AND 25 MINUTES. There were a lot of people who waited for the same amount of time or maybe even more, and it was not even that busy. However, the salad was simply atrocious. A 5-year-old can do this salad in less than 5 minutes (make them 10 if they have to wash the salad beforehand, but this should already be done in a restaurant kitchen...). Chips were good. I'd recommend only going for a drink there. The crisps behind the bar are also good and have some interesting flavours.
We moored our boat right outside. We had lunch and a good few drinks. A bit on the top side on price but well worth the visit. Then the folk music started. Wow well impressed. Improvisation at its best. Such a great night. All so friendly. Even the parrot and tortoise had a great time.
One of the most scenic and beautiful pubs in Oxford as far as location is concerned. Situated right on the banks of river Thames with stunning views, it is one of my favourite places in Oxford, especially during the summer months. The food is excellent, but I found the portion to be slightly smaller. The choices of drinks are also good. One of the only negatives is that the service is a bit slow.
