Booked table for 5 of us in advance, had shared chicken platter, lovely and hot, we had a mix of main courses, 2 of us had the carvery , 1 small and 1 regular, both were fully loaded. Desserts were huge and delicious, had the chocolate éclair and could not finish lol. Will be back again.
We went for a pre Christmas meal. There was a Christmas menu option, along with the regular menu and carvery, there was a Christmas extras menu. So several options to choose from. Everywhere was clean, with plenty of space between tables, the Christmas decorations good. The service was ok, depending who we got. The initial welcome was good with Christmas crackers being given. There is adequate parking and disabled facilities. Oh, and there is a children's area, but I didn't explore that. Everyone enjoyed their food, it was cooked well and tasty, which is the main thing. Although limited amounts of chips were given. The desert and Ice cream counter offered a wide eye, wow selection. Overall it was a very good experience and for the deserts alone, I would return.
I would very much like to thank: Tania, Mark, Ian, Mike and all the other staff serving up, waiting, cooking, and greeting the customers – for making sure we had such an amazing experience today. It was our first time dining at Chestnut Tree Farm. There were three of us: Myself, John (my brother in-law), and Kim (my sister). Firstly, upon entry, we were pleasantly surprised and somewhat shocked at how big this restaurant was inside, and how wonderfully the seating was set out replete with Xmas decorations. Everything looked lovely. We were greeted warmly and our booking was located quickly and efficiently with a smile. After being shown to our table, the ordering process was explained and we were left to settle ourselves in. It was very busy, but there were three young ladies serving at the bar who were very professional, very prompt and very friendly. We felt like appreciated customers. We chose a carvery meal for each of us and we're so glad we did! We all swear to God that it was the best carvery we've ever had. I had: roast gammon, roast beef, carrots, brussel sprouts, roast potatoes, new potatoes, mashed potato, pigs in blankets, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese, and dauphinois potatoes. For afters I had the Eton Mess Sundae and, oh my God! It was without any shadow of a doubt the best sundae I've ever been served. What a lovely experience coming to Chestnut Tree Farm. The atmosphere was great, service was top notch, food was out of this world, and we left feeling full up, sleepy and looking forward to coming back again. Also, thank you to all the staff today. They were all so professional, quick, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and, in our opinion, underappreciated.
It's low priced so the quality is what you'd expect. The queue for the carvery was long but you'd expect that at 6pm on a Sunday. The veg, you could tell, had been sitting under the heat lamps for a while. The best part was by far the cakeaway selection. I bought an éclair for a fiver and it lasted me 3 days so that was by far the best part!!
Arranged to meet friends one afternoon recently and had not known the carvery was on during days other than Sunday. Ended up having one of the best roast dinners anywhere and all at a very competitive price with a Coke in a cup that was easily a pint and a half when you get the large size plate! Tanya, our waitress was very polite, professional and friendly and we all left feeling well and truly stuffed.
