Thank heavens for this very well situated inn, the perfect place to stay at the end of day 2 walking the Ridgeway - lovely to walk through this pretty village to the pub. Our hosts were very welcoming and the rooms super clean and comfy. Recommend it!
Rooms were clean and comfortable. The bar area was really lovely, just what i needed after 105km bike ride. Nice range of beers on offer. Overall for food we felt it was a good value meal and friendly service. It was very handy having a hose for bike washing and secure storage. Road noise was a little annoying, but we did know the inn was next to a busy road when we booked. Pricewise, we felt it was a tad expensive compared to other places that we have stayed at recently for a similar price point... but this place has a very convenient location for cycling the Ridgeway and alternative choices are limited in the area. The owners do a good job and look like they work very hard offering a pleasant stay to their guests.
Room was clean but tired and in need of some redecoration and some decent lighting in the bathroom. Proprietors were friendly and helpful. The evening meal at the pub was overpriced and poor quality but the breakfast was great. All in all I felt it didn't offer value for money
A great stop on our 3 day trip around King Alfred’s Way. Brilliantly set up - bike wash and secure container over night. The service was friendly and relaxed, easily able to accommodate our slightly awkward dietary requirements (one gluten free and one vegan) and fantastic portion sizes - though one of our party still managed two mains after a long day in the saddle. Really good hearty dinner and breakfast! Thanks for everything! Sorry we accidentally stole the key. I hope you’ve got it back!
This place was a dream after a long bike ride. Had a place to secure our bikes, had a washing station, offered a bag lunch for next days ride at a reasonable price (great sandwich on homemade bread too). The food was excellent in the pub. Big patio sitting area. Room was quiet despite the near by highway and clean and shower hot. The family that runs the place were friendly and sociable. Highly recommend it for anyone biking or hiking or just passing through for a small get away.
