Exceptional accommodation, food, service and the whole experience has been exquisite. A cozy open fire with a slowly burning log... background 50's/60's music thats nothing short of DREAMY... I could Eat, Drink & Sleep here FOREVER and be blissfully happy
Spent a lovely stopover at the Ilchester Arms, Abbotsbury. Yes, the rooms are tired & could do with upgrading however, our was comfortable, clean & quiet with a huge TV. Ideal for a stopover. Food in the pub was very nice & staff very helpful & friendly. Ticked all the boxes for us at a good price & with breakfast too.
Stopped in this Abbotsbury Pub during a busy time late in the lunch shift. The bar tender was super helpful and very nice. The food was very satisfying without being fancy. The best fries we had while in England.
No draught ale when we went (very disappointed!), table was sticky, food not bad but hard to go wrong with a burger, lady who looked after us was really nice. We didn’t hang around after eating as we wanted a proper pint and almost no-one else there. Beautiful building and village setting, with some investment it could be and should be so much better! This was a second chance visit after 2 years, no plans to return.
Found this gem of a place in desperation as everything in the Dorchester area was booked up when I needed to do a last minute trip. So glad I did! Our room was lovely, the staff was friendly, my bed so comfortable and the breakfast was top notch. Was worried about being above the pub but honestly had the best nights sleep. Will go back on purpose next time and try the dinner as well.
