Unfortunately shut when I arrived but top marks for location and the fact the landlady rang me back to offer a stop over. Will hopefully stay when I’m next in the area. It’s at the end or start of a lovely long drive through Galloway national forest! Open Thursday -Sunday . Phoning ahead and/or booking is recommended 🌲 🏕️ 🚐 🍻 🍷 🍲
Lovely quiet location not too far from Newton Stewart. Only had a few pints as I was too late for food. Fantastic walk through the woods from the nearby camping site will bring you to the door of the pub/ Hotel.
We really enjoyed the Scottish tapas menu served in this cosy , rustic hotel set deep in the Galloway NP , the service was friendly and the food was delicous , we had between us the patatas bravas, garlic mushrooms ,thai basil chicken ,sweet chili chicken ,mini fish and chips and chorizo and pork in a red wine sauce. My personal highlight was the chilli chicken which was so good I almost asked for a couple more plates
What a delightful place, My 2 friends & I were just on a cycling weekend. After clocking up some miles we were a little thirsty and hungry. We were made welcome in the afternoon for some drinks and returned later for some fantastic food. We enjoyed ourselves so much , its fair to say we were last out the door in the evening. Owner & manager were top class, 5 stars !
The most unique place I've eaten while in Scotland. Scottish style tapas = smaller dishes so you can order 2-3 plates per person and try a variety of traditional Scottish and English dishes with a modern twist. From black pudding fritters and haggis bon bons to traditional fish and chips of calamari. The food was incredible, including the most indulgent Sundae! The service was super friendly and attentive. Overall 5* experience!
