Went here for the festive buffet option for my work Christmas lunch. The rooms are nice and characterful but the buffet was very disappointing (both in quality and quantity). Everyone was hungry afterwards so we stopped by Aldi on the way back to the office to pick up mince pies to try and keep everyone happy. I'm afraid I would not recommend for buffet food although it might be a decent place to go for a drink
Me and my friend had a poor experience when we visited this bar while on holiday. First of all it was kind of gross. Looked like the place hadn't been cleaned in a long time. We were settling in and deciding if we should stay when the bartender comes over and asks for our order. My friend told him that she wasn't ready to order and the bartender said "If you're going to stay here then you need to drink something." Keep in mind we had only been in the bar a few minutes. "You wouldn't go into a restaurant and not eat anything. Either order something or there's the door." We were shocked and offended. We left immediately and on our way out the bartender said "Bye you idiots!" The few minutes we spent in this bar put a damper on our trip. Do yourself a favour and avoid this dump.
Entered the pub and ordered a drink. Sat down to enjoy myself and saw a rat running across the bar. Alerted bar staff who said this was normal. Found the bar manager and he proceeded to say most guests ignore the pests. Hugely disappointed in the hygiene of the kings pub Swindon. I will not be visiting again, despite the ongoings staff did not refund or offer compensation.
Be warned, on the booking confirmation they do warn about noise. We missed that on the email confirmation and had the worst night ever. This is a party hotel that also has a nightclub so unless you want that environment don't go. The room was good overall except the paint on the ceiling over the bed has been damaged by a water leak above. So if you want a good night's sleep before 3am with noise waking you again at 7am best avoid. We also managed to come away with covid but that's a risk of any public place. Still recovering! We did write to the hotel on the basis its not fit for purpose (sleep) but the response was basically you were warned sorry if you missed it! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ⚠️
