The Horseshoe is an 18th century traditional country pub located in the idyllic village of Arddleen. It is situated on a prime roadside location on the A483 between Welshpool and Oswestry just sixty minutes from Chester and ninety minutes from the North and North West Wales coastlines. The countryside views are breathtaking and close to the Offas Dyke Path.
The open/lounge bar area has a separate seating area with the main focal point being the large fireplace, creating a homely, cosy feel in this space. The dining rooms can accommodate 60 covers and can also be used as a function room for family celebrations, parties and meetings. With many "querky" original features this can only give a friendly home-from-home welcoming atmosphere. A recently converted games room with pool table and dart board available for you to enjoy! There are two separate outside beer gardens for that enjoyable family time, also ample parking facility.
Roaring inglenook on arrival, variety of drinks for all the family, great hosts and an excellent meals at reasonable prices.
We go here at least twice a week. Nia and Paul always make us very welcome. We play pool and eat regularly. The food is home cooked, always piping hot and tasty. As are the Sunday lunches. Highly recommended.
We called in without booking and they were able to squeeze us in for Sunday lunch despite being fully booked already. The food was absolutely superb - perfectly cooked, lovely fresh ingredients, and the service from everyone was impeccable. We may be over 230 miles from home, but we will definitely return when we are next in the area. The car park was full and we can see why!
My husband and l were on a journey from Haverfordwest to Cheshire and stopped for lunch at The Horseshoe Inn at Arddleen for lunch. It was without doubt the best pub lunch l have ever tasted. I had roast turkey with stuffing, pigs in blankets and Allen had pork beef and turkey. All very tasty and served with mash potatoes, roast potatoes, parsnip, carrot, beans and cauliflower and broccoli cheese. Everything cooked to perfection. I followed my main course with the tastiest Irish Cream cheesecake. I consider myself something of a connoisseur of cheesecakes and this was definitely beyond compare! Staff were warm and friendly. Will definitely eat there again and would recommend the place to royalty.
Sunday lunch was gorgeous. Best Sunday lunch ever. All fresh veggies and lovely gravy to accompany the meats and roast potatoes. Desserts were very nice too..
