Been here a lot over the years as I live local and I like the lunch menu. However, I was there for a Sunday roast and had the roast turkey and I’m sorry to say but it was inedible. Possibly the worst Sunday roast I have ever had. Everything was like it had been frozen. Potatoes were awful, very pale which was odd. Not one good thing to say about the dish. I sent the food back and went hungry. I have to say the staff were amazing and as I said before, I do like lunch but would not have the roast dinner again. Very disappointed.
I had a lovely lunchtime meal with a friend on 22nd January, where we were served by a brilliant young man called Mason. He was cheerful, attentive and took so much care with us. The food is always lovely and the atmosphere was great. It was very busy, and Mason constantly made sure we were okay. Thank you.
Pub has good atmosphere. Food OK. My fish was good but a little on small side for me. Just 2 scallops in a sea bass and scallop dish. Rice as part of risotto was just not enough. Dishes should all be served with some seasonal veg. Service (Karen) was great. Karen was especially patient with the 'older' members of our family group.
Unfortunately I have to say that the food has gone downhill. My mixed fish was over cooked, dry and unsatisfactory. My boyfriend’s chips were not acceptable. Dry, over cooked and bad looking. We have sadly decided not to return. If this was a cheap meal then maybe we would have expected less quality.
The food we had here was from the festive menu, and was a good mix to suit most tastes. The starter was a reasonable size, although another slice of toast would have meant that I would have spread my terrine thinner. My main course.beef cheeks, whilst delicious had too much gravy for my tastes, and this was a lot runnier than the other people with the same dish that had a thicker jus. I had to ask for a spoon so that i could get this delicious sauce. Whilst a minor issue i thought that the two servings would of at least been consistent. The dessert was a lovely baked burnt orange cheesecake that finished the meal off perfectly without being too heavy. We had a good meal here and was content with our server Josh who was attentive throughout the evening without bothering us too much. The setting made us feel very festive and homely. Im sure we will visit again in the future to explore further mouth watering dishes.
