We live west of Newhaven, East Sussex. We were in Eastbourne shopping and decided to eat locally and picked The Holly Blue Pub/ Restaurant. I booked a table for 5:15 from my phone and after a fight with the Tom Tom arrived just prior to our time. The starter arrived promptly and it was the largest share bowl I've seen since before Covid. Then the main courses arrived after a short break. Food was good and the chip portions were too too much. I think that the only complaint was that we both had extended bellies. It was nice to see staff who smile and are friendly. It not a threat but we will be back .
Friendly service on arrival. Paul Taylor your chef was very friendly and chatted with my Mum which was nice. We both had the carvery. The beef was superb and the vegetables fresh. Good variety of condiments and restaurant was clean. Polite staff. Will definitely visit again and 100% recommend to friends and family.
As soon as we walked through the door a young lady was so polite and we were actually early and with a dog but she was still able to seat us promptly. The bar staff were very nice but unfortunately my elderly auntie wanted a ginger ale which you didn't have. The gentleman on the carvery was very friendly and very helpful with my auntie and made sure she was happy with what he supplied her with. Thank you we will be back soon.
Came here for a meal with friends. The service is amazing, such an amazing establishment. A fantastic service I was served by two lovely girls, I believe their names were Aimee and Skye. They were incredible, so enthusiastic and helpful and all around a joy to have. You can tell they are very passionate about their work and is willing to go above and beyond for the customer. They’re keepers!
Order food and drinks at the bar. Carvery, you will get given a ticket to go up and get your carvery. The food was great. The meat wasn't dry, i guess it, depending on what time you go. I have been other times when it wasn't very good. The curry was also good, with a great portion size. Tea could have done with a bit more water and went cold very quickly as the pots didn't have any lids.
