We stayed overnight at Hollin House Hotel. It is a lovely hotel with a grand staircase on entry, marble columns, wood panelling and many oil paintings, traditional decor. Our room was very nice and the bathroom looked recently refurbished. It was freezing outside but our room was lovely and warm. The restaurant was traditional with some modern twists, reupholstered winged dining chairs in trendy fabrics, very nice. We had Sunday roast, Evening meal and Breakfast which were all very good. The Reception and Restaurant staff were all very helpful, friendly and professional. It was about a 15 minute walk to the local village with a few pubs, although it was a steep walk back!

Nice friendly & value for money hotel, some areas a little tired and breakfast needs more selection, especially for those who don't eat a full English. However the food in the Casa restaurant was lovely and welcoming by Sean Our room was spacious and clean, a special mention to Sarah our house keeper. Overall worth a revisit in the future.

The staff make it a lovely experience, they were busy but always so friendly. Having never stayed here before, I loved the atmosphere, building and food. It's a beautiful historical building that begs to be explored. The staff make the place seem so welcoming. There are a lot of the old features that add to the grandeur of this building. I loved it The nearby villages are also places to be appreciated . Many lovely walks in open country side.

I've stayed here numerous times over the past 9 years. And each time, I keep saying I won't come back. This time, it will be the last. The hotel looks very pleasant when you walk in. But it goes downhill as you walk to your room. I paid extra for what should have been an executive double. The room is slightly larger. But it was only a family room in the past. There is nothing to make it stand out as anything other than a larger room. No room service is carried out. Tea and coffee supplies are not replaced, even when requested. The service in the restaurant and bar has been truly shocking. On the 3rd night, a lot of dishes were missing from the menu. Now, there is a hot tub at the rear of the function room. But adjacent to the bedrooms. It's almost midnight, and all I can hear is a group of drunks shouting. I'm not against people having fun. But if I'm paying this price, I should be able to get some sleep. The hotel has dropped below what I would even expect from a Travelodge.

We came here for Sunday lunch, four adults and a little person, and I have to say I was very impressed. The Sunday lunch offer for two roast dinners and a bottle of wine is truly outstanding value, and far surpassed my expectations. And the chocolate fondant I had for pudding was fantastic. The staff were brilliant with our little dining companion too. We’ll be back.
