Bustling commuter hangout under railway arches with cask ales, pub menu and a small outdoor area.
Pretty much an institution in these parts - and it's stayed pretty much the same for years - this pub is actually quite a large hole in a wall, being situated in railway arches in front of Waterloo Station and has been a watering hole of choice for commuters for many a year.
Never a place one would ever describe as spic and span (picture your favourite grotty boozer), and with conversation drowned out by the trains rumbling over head every few minutes, the appeal of the place is not easy to identify. But when you consider it's proximity to the station and the excellent range of beers on the hand pumps, the penny drops.
Not a great place for a romantic night, but a handy one to put right the evils of another day in the office or kill time while waiting for that train.

Stopped in for a late drink before closing time. Really good selection of beers and ales. Jukebox. Crowd had thinned out a bit, but nice pub.
Great little pub tucked away behind Waterloo Station in the arches.. always worth a visit, great beer selection, I went for the pints of draught Erdinger which was lovely and reasonably priced. And I won't let the thief who stole my nephews bag ruin my night..
Came in for a quick pint or two before our train home and unfortunately, as we were leaving, a fellow punter made some unprovoked abusive comments towards us. We let a member of staff know on our way out and had the pleasure of seeing them ask the gentleman to leave the premises. The beer options are great, it’s reasonably priced, and the staff are decent people. New favourite pub discovered
First visit and the selection of beers available is excellent. I had the Anspach and Hobday London Black nitro porter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Hole In The Wall is a little gem of a pub which if you like something a bit different and a proper beer without the pretentiousness of some of the other establishments in the area. Will definitely be paying another visit very soon!
This is such a quirky place. 28 draft beers and ciders. Lovely friendly staff. (Slated as the only tavern in London where you can openly clip your fingernails in plain view of patrons and leave the offending offcuts strewn on the bar floor.)
