Amicable staff and, lovely view. Everyone was quite attentive and hospitable. Music sometimes did travel through the walls, but I actually loved the vibes. Stayed at a deluxe double room, would definitely stay again.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting food is also amazing I went last night and had the steak and Stilton pie all home made and really testy even the veg was gorgeous highly recommend
We stayed here for one night with my wife after a day trip to Oxford. It is about 15-20min drive from city. Basic but clean room with flat screen (but couldn’t find the remote), tea maker with biscuits, clean toilet, two comfortable beds. Cheapest in Oxford I would say, and worth for money. Can order dinner, breakfast. Good pub. Only issue is the noise upstairs when people are walking.
Another reviewer has taken the words out of my mouth when I say the welcome we received here was like we'd been here before, many times. What a fantastic find, steeped in history, The Highwayman definitely stands (out) and delivers! Welcome and service were exemplary. Roaring log fire was most welcome on a none too pleasant cold and rainy afternoon. We enjoyed an excellent delicious evening meal from a varied menu, and a perfectly cooked hot fresh breakfast the next morning, there are also buffet style cereals, yoghurts, toast and hot & cold drinks to help yourselves to. We were fortunate enough to book in on a Friday when Short Drag Roger, fantastic sea shanty band of merry men were performing. Brilliant bonus. Our room was huge with a jacuzzi bath, comfy bed, and was warm, clean and comfortable. We wished we could have stayed longer. So are booking again to return very soon. Thank you so much for such a treat and a very memorable stay.
Me and my partner had food here for 2 days while we stayed in Kidlington for a Blenheim Palace weekend. We actually stayed at the local Premier Inn but we read that the Beefeater at the Premier Inn had had bad reviews. So we decided on here being as it was a 10 minute walk from the hotel. So glad we made the decision. The food was immense. I had haddock and chips on the first night and chicken burger on the 2nd night. It's a lovely little homely rustic pub and we are considering staying here next time we visit.
