We have been here quite a few times but one day as we were passing a family member wanted the toilet and was refused entry if they were not haveing a meal or drinks. They offered to buy a drink but were still refused as THIER WORDS . YOUR JUST GOING TO PURCHASE A DRINK JUST TO USE THE TOILET SO NO YOU CANNOT COME IN. WHAT ???? The money I have spent in there DISGRACEFUL. So l/we WILL DEFINATLY NOT BE GOING THERE AGAIN. You've just lost customers. Bad customer service. Your staff don't no health reasons of people and should be understanding. Without public using your fersilities you wouldn't have a job or be open.I am not looking for a debate or comments on this review so please don't contact me. DISGUSTING WAY TO TREAT HUMAN BEINGS. I HOPE ONE DAT YOUR IN THAT SITUATION AND ON THE VERGE OF DESPERATION. Then as your panicking REMEMBER THAT DAY. ITS CALLED KARMAR.

Sunday dinners where absolutely delicious and well worth the price! Myself and my mum got two dinners for £17.99! Would highly recommend The Highfield Hotel to all.

Appalling service at this place- literally everything was too much trouble! Reception is unstaffed, and despite ringing the bell three or four times had to go looking for reception staff every time- which was a lot of times given the number of issues, which I i list below: 1. The radiator in the bathroom didn't work. When I reported this I was told that this was intentional(!) and that it should have been removed "during the refurb". It may well be that the rad in the bedroom provided enough heat for both spaces, but it would have been nice to be able to dry/warm towels. Also, who leaves redundant bits of kit hanging around? 2. When we returned to the hotel at about 10.30pm there was a dog barking loudly and constantly in an adjoining room. When I reported this to reception I was told in a rather irritated manner that "they can't exactly tell the dog to be quiet". They did absolutely nothing about this, and didn't offer any solution. I insisted on being moved to another room which they reluctantly agreed to. No assistance though with shifting our stuff to the new room. 3. Only enough towels provided for one person. I asked for more and they didn't arrive, i asked again and for some reason they were left on the floor outside our new room. It's not acceptable for towels to be left on the carpeted floor of a communal area (imo). The staff member that i dealt with most (sorry didn't get their name, but female with short hair) was brusque to the point of rudeness and absolutely unsuited to any customer facing role. Also customers were openly vaping in the bar- which no staff seemed to be able or willing to stop.

Stayed here room was nice clean and comfy bed, good bathroom, floorboards a little noisy but in all a good room to stay, for a night. The pub needs some work, staff friendly but decor needs updating and service could be better, on the night I stayed they was closing the kitchen at 8pm so felt a little rushed starter's was really good chicken strips with the Korean sauce I think it was hot and really good, but main was not of a great quality, had the smothered chicken, bacon, bbq sauce and cheese on top, of one of the large plates but not the best, puddings excellent and menu has a wide choice of food...
