Stunning real ales here. Not many pubs in St Albans can consistently deliver such quality beer. Coupled with this. The staff always make you feel at ease, and comfortable. Very few pub manage to offer this outstanding package. I've heard the food is rather good as well.

Did not realise there was a service charge on top of the bill, if we had known and whether or not this was an option then may off gone else where. Food was good but small portions, kids meals charged as an adults even though it was small. No steak, Ploughman's could off been better. No wonder why the pub was quite.

Nice food, good atmosphere, with a good setup for a vintage pub, not been in years but will be back!

Wandered through the park after Fighting Cocks and stumbled on this current (2023) CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub. Excellent entry. Chose Wychert from Vale brewery, a 3.9% amber bitter. Madge loved it. Lovely fireplace, Good beer garden plus car parking. Great first visit. Long inside seating splits into 3 areas. Menu looks good; Sunday rossts etc.

Had a late Sunday lunch with friends Nice friendly atmosphere, the roast beef lunch was excellent as was the lamb and chicken. Lovely homemade rhubarb and apple crumble Wine list is ok ,do think they should have a good house wine at the £ 12 level. Highly enjoyable
