Rob & Stephanie welcome you to the George & Dragon in Watton at Stone and invite you to enjoy fine ales good food and a friendly, warm atmosphere.
Dating back to the 16th century, the George and Dragon has been a licensed house since before 1619. Over the last 40 years it has become known for its food and it’s relaxed and comfortable environment. The old touches still remain - beams, soft lighting and oak furniture while the small dining room is a charming place for a cosy meal. With real wood fires and a general rustic feel, there are old prints and brasses dotted around making this watering hole a very charismatic and delightful place to eat and drink.
Enjoy fine dining in either of the two newly refurbished dining rooms or a bar snack in the lounge or public bar and be assured of pleasant surroundings, friendly staff and freshly prepared home cooked food 7 days a week. Walkers and cyclists are welcome (please call in advance) and we are dog friendly in the public bar area and garden areas.
There is a wide selection of blackboard specials offering seasonal dishes as well as fresh fish from Grimsby, local game (when in season) and traditional Sunday roasts. With a selection of lighter options such as sandwiches and salads as well as a children’s menu there is something for everyone. Vegetarian and Gluten Free dishes are available for those with dietary requirements.
Special menus are available on request for private functions and group bookings.

Lovely food, so delicious. The owners are wonderful and staff all helpful. Great vibe and just a good local pub :)
The location I visited was truly magical, and I found myself savoring every moment spent there. The atmosphere was unlike anything I had ever experienced before - it felt as though I had been transported to another world entirely. What really made the experience unforgettable, however, were the staff members who were just as enchanting as the setting itself. They went out of their way to ensure that each guest felt welcome and comfortable throughout their stay. With all sincerity, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an exceptional and unique experience that they will cherish forever.
We came as a large cycling group on 31 October for lunch. We had preordered on Google Sheets - everyone was served within 10 minutes of arrival with drinks served at the table. We are occasional visitors and this is one of our best pubs for food quality and service. Can’t recommend it too highly.
After a five mile walk I was very glad to arrive back at the pub in Watton at Stone. A friendly welcome, and I enjoyed a tasty sandwich and a delightful chocolate sponge cake and ice cream dessert.
Went with friends for lunch. Pub is dog friendly, good choice on menu which also offers small plates. We had fish and chips, ham egg and chips, homemade tomato soup. All excellent and very reasonable priced. Will certainly be going again.
