About us

The Crown Inn has served Broxbourne for several hundred years, dating back to the 1700's. Popular with Victorian day-trippers, the inn was also used by local companies who liked their employees to play sports on the adjacent gardens. The current building was constructed in the 1930s, replacing The Old Crown Hotel, since those days we have worked hard at retaining our reputation for great hospitality and even better food.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

First visit in years with friends (15+). Midweek lunch. Really impressed. Ample parking, great choice of food and drink. Staff very friendly and more than happy to welcome our three dogs in the bar, bringing them over a drink as well. Won’t be long before we go back.

They are never normally a favourite part for me but the roasted carrots were delicious, I’ll come back for them alone! Definitely one of the best pub roasts dinners I’ve had! Crumble was yum too! Also was provided with a dog blanket and water bowl so my dog was happy too. Looking forward to coming back

We were recommended to the Crown and decided to try it out on a Sunday to see what their roasts were like. We certainly were not disappointed. The portions were big and the meat was generous however they could have had better roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. The starters were delicious and we would certainly like to come back on another day to try other menu items. One thing that stood out was their friendly and amazing service. Our server Kirsty was exceptionally helpful and made sure that we were very welcome. She also told us how big the size of our roasts were going to be so that we didn't over order on starters and waste food. For dessert we had sorbets and they were also extremely good. Overall a very good experience and will definitely be returning again.

I came here with a friend and my very dirty dog and I can honestly say, I have never been to a pub with such friendly and welcoming staff! Nothing was too much trouble and they welcomed us with open arms and even let us dry our wet clothes by the fire! The food was excellent too! Could recommend enough! Will be back :)

We visited on Sunday 2023-08-06 early afternoon ~2pm, staff was very friendly and the environment was nice right by the river. However I did not enjoy the atmosphere as much because the singing performance and music were a bit loud, not very in-keeping with the surrounding in my opinion. We had a Sunday roast and a fish 🐟 & chips, both were executed quite poorly. My roasted pork belly was rather dry and tough, the cracking tasted like chemicals, while the broccoli 🥦 and carrots 🥕 were over boiled to a rather mushy state. Besides, the menu said the roast would come with apple sauce but I got a chunk of funny tasting roasted apple instead. The batter on the fish was also soggy and floury/ uncooked. I would not recommend going there for food because what I had was very disappointing, perhaps just get a pint to enjoy the view of the river.
