About us

The Slip reopened in August 2016 following a major refurbishment which aimed to restore it to its former role as a village inn. Work is in progress on the kitchen which is expected to offer basic pub food The pub name derives from a landslide in 1575 which buried the church and a herd of cattle.

Can't believe called in having a drink. Being me cheerful happy self with a mate. Just to get abuse off bar maid for being happy. Was asked not to bother coming back. And they wonder why they got no trade. So tick that pub off. Lovely place though. Great toilets and clean lacks atmosphere due to certain bar maid. Sorry.

Ahoy, fellow revelers! So, there we were, a Friday night on the prowl for liquid delights, and guess where we found ourselves? None other than this charming little establishment tucked away off the beaten track. We strolled in, the door chimed a merry greeting, and the cozy ambience wrapped around us like a warm hug from an old friend. Now, my drink selection is not a task I take lightly, and this place had me grinning from ear to ear. The local ales were flowing, and the wine selection was as tempting as a siren's song. After much contemplation (which might as well have been a religious experience), I settled on Nightjar, a divine Stout by Wye Brewery. It danced on my palate like a moonlit jig and was as spot on as a bullseye in a darts competition. But that's not all, my friends! The food menu beckoned with promises of culinary bliss. We made a pact to return for the Sunday roast, for we've heard it's the stuff of legends. And let me tell you, that's no small claim in a world full of foodie fantasies. Oh, and here's a twist to our tale - on our way out, we stumbled upon a treasure trove of duck eggs, freshly laid and going for a mere £2 for half a dozen! We grabbed 'em like they were golden nuggets, feeling like culinary pirates who'd just found buried treasure. But wait, there's more! This pub isn't just for satisfying your hunger and thirst; it's a haven for our four-legged, tail-wagging pals. It's as dog-friendly as a golden retriever in a field of tennis balls. So, bring Fido along for a pint; he's sure to make a new buddy or two. In conclusion, this local gem has won our hearts. With its libation delights, gastronomic temptations, and dog-friendly charm, it's a treasure chest of good times waiting to be plundered. See you at the Sunday roast, and don't forget to bring your appetite and your furry sidekick!
