Called in for some food and drinks with the family - all closed up with no sign of life.. EDIT FOLLOWING REPLY : The building has written all over it in massive letters "Baskerville Arms", there is a swinging pub sign saying "Baskerville Arms", it's always been a public house, Tracey in Powys' planning department confirmed the class of use is "Public House", there is a sign above the door confirming the premises has an on licence, what more do you want? Last time I fancied a pint in a PUB, I didn't find it necessary to research in advance online to check if I was being stupid or not. EDIT FOLLOWING REMOVAL OF REPLY!: Oh, so now the reply to my review has been deleted. For context here folks, the business owner suggested that I research whether a pub is, in fact, a pub anymore, before having the audacity to just expect to be able to turn up!! Enough said.

Great place to stay Hosts are funny and knowledgeable. Beds are so comfy, place is clean, decor is stunning (loved the little touch of fresh flowers in the room)! Breakfast was lovely...especially the homemade granola!

What an absolute pleasure to stay at Baskerville House. Beautiful property and rooms, delicious breakfast, and such delightful and interesting hosts. A real gem! Plus, one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in, possibly ever. A huge thanks to Rebecca and Stephen for your hospitality and care!

I stayed here for two nights, the first was the night before a horse riding trek with Freerein riding holidays & the night my trek finished. On arrival it was all locked up (I hadn't given a time of arrival), there is a display case to the right of the main entrance with a phone number to ring if the doors are locked. I rang and Stephen unlocked within minutes and helped me with my bags. I had booked a single room, when I got to the room it was a 4ft bed which was great 😁 the room was spotless, very tastefully decorated & comfortable. The sheets are top quality, crisp & white, also nice fluffy towels. Although they have opened Baskerville House (Baskerville Arms) as a boutique B&B there are still some original features, they kept the bar, which is great, not manned so has a trust system. Breakfast was lovely too, Rebecca will cater to all tastes, cereal, very fresh fruit or cooked breakfast. They only serve breakfast so you need to go out for food, Hay is only half an hour walk away, and there are lots of places to eat and a co-op store. I travelled alone but Stephen & Rebecca are so lovely and welcoming that it wasn't a problem. They have both had a great life and are so interesting to talk to. Thank you for my stay and I will see you again soon. Alison.

A lovely comfortable B&B with helpful and friendly owners, delightful bedrooms, and great breakfasts. (If you're looking at other reviews on here, make sure you only consider the recent ones since Stephen and Rebecca took over and did a total refurbishment.) If you want to walk into Hay-on-Wye for dinner, it's just over a mile, along the road but with some lovely views on the way, and Stephen also had a good list of recommendations for places to east in the surrounding area. Definitely hope to come back.
