The staff and service were great. Just want to make that clear right from the start. Happy and welcoming when we came through the doors and promptly showed us to our table. We ordered using the QR code on the menu and the food came out after about 20mins. So far, everything has gone swimmingly. Sadly, the food was a huge let down. I had the roast beef. The beef was tough as leather, the gravy was a congealed jelly and there was no horseradish! The boy had the chicken pie, which was nice, but had the same issue with the gravy. The wife had a house salad. The house salad was missing more than half of the ingredients and was essentially lettuce, cucumber and tomato. There was no soya beans, red onion, red pepper, kale, brown rice, etc, so it was a pretty sorry looking dish. I made the (I assume) manager/supervisor aware and she was immediately apologetic. She took it up with the kitchen, who informed her that they were out of stock of these (pretty basic and essential) ingredients. She also offered a replacement alternative meal on the house, but the wife didn’t want anything else, so it was appreciatively decline. We came to leave and the afore mentioned manager/supervisor refunded not only the house salad, but also the chicken pie, as a good will gesture. Again, I can’t stress how happy I was with the service. Things go wrong and that’s the same in any human oriented business. They were accountable and accommodating. However, given that there’s a Tesco express, literally 150m away, I can’t see why any out of stock basic ingredients wouldn’t quickly be replenished from there. If it wasn’t for the food, it would have been a 4/5 star easily.
No interest from any staff members. No customer service. App drink orders ignored. Had to go to bar to ask where they then searched the bin for tickets; not once but twice. Only table dining. Waiter couldn't have been less interested. Had to ask for cutlery twice before he remembered or mustered the energy to get us some. No check back. No one cleared plates even an hour after we had finished. 4 had lamb special. All presented differently and "seasoned vegetables" were just peas?! Lazy presentation from kitchen. Minimal effort. Left at 10pm and there was only 1 man drinking in the bar. Place was empty. No music. No atmosphere. We used to live in weedon and used to come regularly. What's happened. Wouldn't recommend and not likely to return.
Visited for a hotel stay one night. Rooms were reasonably priced and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. This is a classic big pub with ample space, pool table and a kitchen doing your expected food standards. Massive car park. A good place to park up and stay if your heading somewhere.
Nice comfortable place with lots of seating options, including some more secluded tables for privacy. Friendly service, and a casual atmosphere. They have a good salad topped with cauliflower bbq "wings", and tasty vegan nachos, as well as good "chips". No vegan desserts, though. Gotta work on that, guys!
Friendly and great value for money. The food was delicious, though one plate was not piping hot that was still very tasty.We had starters and main course. Place was clean and tidy. We was there about 13:30 on a Saturday easily found a table close to the door as one of my party had mobility issues. Parking was OK. Plan on going back next weekend as we are passing through the area again. The veggie pie I was told was very tasty.
