About us

A Free House, the bar is the perfect venue for pre or post meal drinks. Well stocked with wines, spirits and soft drinks, real ales are a permanent and popular feature here. The restaurant is perfect for either a leisurely lunch or as a place in which to relax at the end of a day of activity and sightseeing.

The atmosphere is uniquely remote and peaceful and yet it is truly accessible, being only a few miles from busy commercial centres including St. Asaph Business Park. The impressive country and sea views to be enjoyed from The Hawk and Buckle become even more spectacular as you gaze further afield to the distant Blackpool Tower and the Cumbrian hills!

The county of Denbighshire is part of beautiful North East Wales. It stretches from the popular coastal resorts of Rhyl and Prestatyn in the north, down through the Vale of Clwyd, over the panoramic Horseshoe Pass into the picturesque Dee Valley where nestle the busy tourism town of Llangollen home to the International Music Eisteddfod every year. As you move south from the golden beaches through the historic towns of the Vale of Clwyd- Rhuddlan, St.Asaph, Denbigh and Ruthin- you are sheltered by the hills of the Clwydian Range, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Hawk & Buckle, the landlady is so warm and welcoming and the food is extremely tasty (beef bourguignon!). We stayed in room 3, huge bathroom and comfy beds! And stunning views. We’ll be back one day for sure 🤩

Great location and cosy accommodation with a beautiful outlook and a contemporary en suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Excellent service (lovely staffs) and a delicious breakfast. This was a fantastic find that was reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Charming traditional country pub - warm welcome from the staff and the local pub customers. Good pub food. Comfortable room with lovely view and modern bathroom en suite with spacious walk in shower. First rate breakfast in a lovely breakfast room and great service. This was a great find and good value for money.

What a wonderful pub! The landlady is amazing. So friendly and welcoming. Not only did she not mind when my toddler knocked over a full pint but she was cheery, producing toys for the kids to play with and making recommendations for places to visit nearby. Food was also lovely. We went on a Wednesday which is steak night and would recommend!
