A wonderful characterful freehouse, built in the 13th century. Nice outside gin bar and terrace. Very cozy. A gem.
Deliciously perfectly grilled scotch salmon. Assorted cheese very delicate and well matured. Venison carpaccio served with sides which enhanced the flavor of the meat. Thank you to Olympe for the friendly and attentionate service . Will definitely come back when in the area again!
We have had wonderful experiences here. Some places find big groups difficult, not here; they have always been amazing. We have now been for three Christmas dinners, as the pub is a great meet in the middle spot for my family. I wish I didn't live so far away so I could go more often. The staff are incredibly welcoming and handle every request to perfection. They couldn't have done more for us. 11 happy customers. The food is delicious, the roast beef was tender and may I say yummmmy. We'll be back next Christmas and hopefully sometime in the summer. I also love how much care the staff take in decorating and keeping this lovely pub looking great.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Absolutely lovely meal. Recommend booking in advance as it's popular. A true hidden gem on the Ashdown Forest.
