The inn is named after Harsthead Pike, the monument situated at the beacon point of the area. It is possible to see the counties of Cheshire Lancashire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire from the Pike. There has been a building on the hill for centuries. The present tower built in 1863, is the third on the site, as previous towers have collapsed.

Absolutely shocking, went in today we had booked a table for 3.30pm, we was in for 3 hours!! The service was terrible we had to keep asking where our food is, then dessert took even longer my 11 yr is son has type 1 dibietes and I needed to do his injection but can't do it till he finished all his courses, the roast beef I couldn't even eat it was pink and way under cooked it was absolutely disgusting. Then had to wait ages for the bill by this point we was ready for just walking out, then good job we checked bill cause was more than it should be!! We won't be returning anytime soon very disappointed use to love it b4 it got took over
Dropped in for lunch on Jan 16th. excellent parking, very warm welcome, great service and great food. Portion size was good, very well cooked and presented. Despite being quite busy service was swift as they had plenty of people on hand. Prices were good value given the type of establishment. All in all excellent, I can't see anything not to like. In summer the views outside will also be fantastic. Will definitely go back.
Wow! wasn’t expecting this, Hartshead Inn on the verge of re-opening to the general public after a major refurbishment has elevated itself to become the best place in the area, in All aspects. Absolutely amazing, had an incredible evening! The interior is stunning, the food is amazing and what makes this even better, is how special the fabulous staff make you feel the moment you walk through the door. To have a restaurant pub of this quality has been long overdue in Saddleworth and the surrounding area. Big thanks to the Beth, Paige, Sam & Kaya for making the evening so memorable and to all the other members of staff working away in the background, was great to meet Megan and Craig from the corporate perspective too. So looking forward to returning very soon and on a regular basis.
Last visited August 2023 It was rather straightforward to make the reservation via automated service on the mobile. Ordered a good selection of food to share, the way we like it to mix it up. The food was ok. It helped ordering a selection and sharing to mix the flavour. Having said that, there where no complaints with the food. It was during a quiet period, so we had nicely positioned table near the window.
